Tarrant County GOP's vice-chairman survives recall vote over his religion -- County party officials overwhelmingly rejected attempts to remove Shahid Shafi because he's Muslim. The 139-49 vote came after the state's top Republican officials denounced the failed move to oust the trauma surgeon.

Well it was around 3-to-1 to KEEP him. I guess they aren't all total racists in Tarrant County's GOP OR enough of them weren't racist enough to vote him out on the national stage.

White Settlement is in the county, on the west side of Ft. Worth.

In east Texas, near Greenville on the Interstate was a sign until sometime in the '70's that said, "Greenville: Home of the Blackest Land and the Whitest People".

Like Pete said, though, it was 3-1 to retain him in the county. Fort Worth has lots of rednecks, but they aren't all racists. And it's nice little city. Great zoo, museums, and new-ish arts center.

And as we used to say, something Dallas will never have: a large metropolitan city 30 mile east of it.

From the article:
Former Tarrant County precinct chair Sara Legvold did not vote on the motion to recall Shafi, but sat outside Thursday's closed-door meeting wearing a burqa to "represent the Islamization of our county, our state and our country."

"You already see it in the workplace where Muslims demand they're able to wear their hijab and demand they get a prayer room," she said. "When was the last time a Christian was allowed to have a separate place to say their prayers?"

Dorrie O'Brien, one of the precinct chairs leading the charge against Shafi, previously said her support for ousting him stems not from his religion, but whether he is connected "to Islamic terror groups," the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Folks, THAT is the GOP right now...uneducated, paranoid bigots.

Islamisization of our country? Hilarious. I am glad that the Republicans in that county were not willing to succumb to stupidity. Good for them. There is hope for the future.
