Of course they oppose it. They've been getting holy hell from their largely Republican landowners. For some unfathomable reason they think it will reduce the utility and worth of their holdings and gut their income.

I would imagine that "eminent domain" confiscation of the land of Texans by Washington bureaucrats would be greeted with, shall I say, less than enthusiastic open arms.
