When you want to get in to a company's computing infrastructure, you rarely go in via the front door. Russia knows this well, and this type of event is nothing new.

For example, remember Target's break-in a few years ago? The hackers got in via a weak network infrastructure associated with the HVAC maintenance process. From there they were inside the main "firewall" of Target and were able to roam around pretty much at will.

Also, Russia has been ~playing~ with Ukraine's power grid for years now.

We are very susceptible in this area. Very susceptible.

Yes, and we are beginning to understand how Putin/Manafort/Trump used Ukraine as the training ground (e.g. "Lock her up" originated there) for ops and actions taken here in 2016.

Its bad policy to have control of our grid tied to the internet. It should be an independent closed system. Our vote counting system is for the same reason.
