President Donald Trump claimed Thursday that his oft-made 2016 campaign promise that he would build a wall and Mexico would pay for it didn't mean it would be a direct payment, despite outlining just that scenario during his campaign.

And AFTER the election: Trump humiliates Mexican president again over border wall

Trump is obviously the biggest incompetent to hold the Office of President.

Indict, impeach, or maybe just pay to go away; Trump needs gone.

Trump's number one campaign slogan was we were going to build a wall, and Mexico would pay for it.

Obviously, for any rational person, this was a joke.

But. Trumpublicans are morons.

Now. He wants to force the us, the American tax payers, to cough up the money for his wall.

In order to do so, he cut taxes on himself and the rich.

I'm sure this all adds up in someone's mind.

But, for me personally, it's just another lie from Trump.

He should have ignored it, like he did with his promise to LOCK HILLARY UP!

He's costing our nation way too much money. He has no clue how our government works, he seems clueless on how the nation works.

He needs to quit, resign, leave.

I'm sure he'll have a great future living in Russia.

Mexico is NOT going to pay for a ---- wall.

WE are not going to pay for a ---- WALL.

There will be NO ---- WALL.

Fund border security, Open the Government , learn to negotiate.

"Anyone else want to negotiate?"

Nulli and Mackris are like an endangered species on this thread.

I wasn't expecting them to show up.

And if they do, it will only be to deflect from the topic of the thread.

Or to proclaim Trump never really meant Mexico would pay for the wall.

Either way, I doubt their input would be useful.

Trump to Sean Hannity April 2016: "They'll pay. They'll pay, in one form or another. They may even write us a check by the time they see what happens."

Trump 2016: "[Mexico] may even write us a check by the time they see what happens."

Trump 2019: "I never meant [Mexico was] gonna write out a check"

Trumpublicans: "Four more years! Four more years!"

"Or to proclaim Trump never really meant Mexico would pay for the wall."

Nullifidian said he was fine with that last week.

Politicians make lots of promises they don't intend to keep; Trump is no different.

(But they still believe his promise to drain the swamp.)

Trumps next address to the nation should be him saying, "Obviously I didn't mean I was going to make America great again."

I'd prefer Trump ignored this promise.

Problem is, he's hell bent on achieving it.

Even if he has to destroy our nation in the process.

Turns out...It wasn't really even a promise.

It was just a mnemonic that he used in case he forgot what he was talking about. Which he did often. Then he found out it worked better than he had ever expected.

and then.. he was stuck with it.

During the early stages of the 2016 campaign, Trump's advisers reportedly chose it as a mnemonic device to ensure that their undisciplined candidate -- "who hated reading from a script but loved boasting about himself and his talents as a builder," according to the New York Times -- remembered to talk about immigration and border security during his rallies.

"Build the Wall!"

"Lock Her up!"

"Who will pay for it?"

Now he is stuck with the literal consequences of his rhetorical irresponsibility. And so, unavoidably, are the rest of us.

None of them have commented on this thread. Not that they'd have much to say.

It's easier to ignore the fact Trump is a failure, than acknowledge the fact he suckered them all.

I had forgotten the fantasy that Trump would tax Western Union transfers to Mexico that was being peddled by Rightoffcenter and his stooges.

It was a ridiculous idea that could easily be circumvented.

Just like the wall.

RoC was championing that remittance tax like it was the best idea ever!

After laughing at him nonstop and rubbing his face in how stupid an idea it was. He plonked me. It was glorious.

What an idiot the supposed lawyer is.

#13 Draining the swamp is a promise trump is keeping. He has brought all manner of swamp monsters into his administration's vortex of ineptitude and criminality.

Those scumbags are now being sucked towards prison as they crossed Muellers investigation horizon.

Trump sucks so bad all integrity and empathy of those that get close to him is crushed into nothingness.

Trump jr is about to get a Mueller swirly soon.

What if people are dumb enough to actually say such a thing? This is really more about the perception of national security, and it seems the left can never resist the chance to appear weak on it. I've never seen anyone on the left call out and condemn nonsense like yours, and then they wonder why criticism of hypocrisy on the right falls on deaf ears. Buy hey, keeping attacking those who perceive the left and right as the same when it comes to hyperbolic noise as the ones who have the deficit.

"Weak" is attempting a fifth century solution on a 21st century problem. We could spend 1/10th of 1% of the cost of a wall frog-marching hirers, and even at $100K per arrest, we'd get to 250 perp walks. A wall is wasteful, idiotic, and harmful, besides going against every former principle held by classic Republicans.

Considering that a friend of mine just recently had a violent forced entry into his home, I'm not sure which is more pathetic: the fact you appear to support such a thing, the fact that you and your flaggy friend feel the need to make up lies about people who oppose it, or the fact you're a freak of nature Silence Dog Ood hybrid.
