Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, January 10, 2019

President Donald Trump has repeatedly advocated for a steel slat design for his border wall, which he described as "absolutely critical to border security" in his Oval Office address to the nation Tuesday. But Department of Homeland Security testing of a steel slat prototype proved it could be cut through with a saw, according to a report by DHS.

This is Trump's own government showing just how idiotic his insistence on a border wall actually is.

A photo exclusively obtained by NBC News shows the results of the test after experts from the Marine Corps were instructed to attempt to destroy the barriers with common tools.
Whoops.... I guess spending billions on his beautiful steel barrier makes about as much sense as touting one's degree from Trump University or bragging about how delicious your Trump Steak tastes coming off your grill.

Pelosi and Schumer should hold a news conference today, while Trump fumbles around Texas, to reiterate that a physical border wall is not the answer for securing our southern border and Trump's own government continues to make the case without the help of Democrats. There are myriad ways to enhance border security that do not include unnecessary physical structures easily defeated by simple tools and the deep desires of refugees to escape untenable living conditions in other countries.

If you build it they will come....and destroy it. Can you imagine what his glorious wall would look like 20 years from now? Hilarious!

"Pelosi and Schumer should hold a news conference today, while Trump fumbles around Texas, to reiterate that a physical border wall is not the answer for securing our southern border and Trump's own government continues to make the case without the help of Democrats."

I agree but would corporate owned media even cover it? They are invested in Trump, end to net neutrality, etc. We already know who they support and it ain't us.

I have an idea: Every person affected by the government shutdown, largely orchestrated by Rush Limpballs and Ann Coultergeist, should organize a boycott of every single one of their commercial sponsors, since no one voted for either one of them to have the power to override the wishes of the American electorate nor their representatives.

Our political leaders had done their jobs and agreed upon a CR to fund government without disruption to which the President agreed to sign. Then these interlopers chastised the fragile ego of this POTUS and he reneged on the deal he agreed to, and here we are. Unelected entertainers with direct pipelines to this President should not dictate policy that impacts millions of lives and this nation's security unless it's actuated through the legislative process proscribed in the Constitution far outside the influence of for-profit right wing media conglomerates.

I totally agree and the rest of us who agree with them should join those boycotts. And I am sick and tired of liberal talk show hosts (Thom Hartmann) telling us boycotts don't work. I like Thom but boycotts are one of the only tools we have to fight back. I agree with Tony, boycott every sponsor of Limpballs and Coutergeist, and Fox News.

Not the type you can buy at HomeDepot, it would need to be a PTO, easily observable.

On top of this technology exists you could easily determine where the breach happened ...

Seriously you guys are idiots if you think this is an issue.

" to reiterate that a physical border wall is not the answer for securing our southern border"

I will bite ...

How do you physically stop people in a humane way, from crossing the border, and getting the right to a deportation hearing two years down the road, upon which they don't appear?

Which is the issue.

- Or a battery powered saw.

Good luck with that when the wall is behind the border, allowing border patrol agents to patrol outside the perimeter, and agents inside can see what you're doing.

How can you and why would you set a deportation hearing for someone you stopped from entering illegally? More irrational nonsense from you this morning mackris. What happened recently that pushed you from a loose screw to an entirely stripped one?

As noted above, that is not the issue unless you are referring to those who cross outside of designated entry points and then turn themselves in to authorities once on US soil, ie. those seeking asylum. Those folks have an extremely high likelihood of showing up:

In 2017, the vast majority, 89 percent, of those claiming asylum showed up for their trials, meaning that decisions were not made "in absentia." In 2016, 91 percent showed up, and in 2015, 93 percent of asylum decisions were not made in absentia, meaning that the asylum seeker was, indeed, present.

Those numbers are clear. In the report there's even a helpful chart showing that most of the people applying for asylum come to their court dates. Despite Trump's words, asylum seekers are most often seen again and they make it a priority to follow the laws and appear for their hearing.

Buying into the lies again I see maAtress. When are you going to learn there are facts and truth on one hand and BS and what comes out of Trump's piehole on the other, and seldom the twain groups ever meet?

#18 | Posted by nullifidian at 2019-01-10 08:43 PM | Reply

This wall won't be built unless Trump steals the money.

Here's some facts.

Mexico isn't paying for it.

Thanks to the tax cut, the rich aren't paying for it.

If the democrats are successful. We aren't paying for it.

Trump's only option is to declare a state of emergency and steal the funds.

Nulli will cheer this on.

Because, like his fellow Trumpublicans, he's a petty b***h.

Q: You said being a democratic socialist means a more international view. Does that include raising the level of immigration to a level of open borders?
A: Open borders? No, that's a Koch brothers proposal.

Q: Really?

A: Of course. That's a right- wing proposal, which says essentially there is no United States.

Q: But it would make a lot of global poor richer, wouldn't it?

A: It would make everybody in America poorer --you're doing away with the concept of a nation state, and I don't think there's any country in the world that believes in that. If you believe in a country called the United States or any other country, you have an obligation to do everything we can to help poor people. What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them. I don't believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country, I think we have to do everything we can to create millions of jobs.

Classic .... would have voted for him, seriously, I don't mind having Medicare-for-all or NationalHealthCare ...
Just not for everyone that enters the country illegally.... like CA, or NYC ... ridiculous.

His "right wing open border policy" is pretty darn funny!

Then Bernie changed his tune ... once OpenBorders crowd twisted his arm, made him feel guilty ...
Yet another reason to vote against him!

Yeah, because digging a quarter mile tunnel, at minimum, that border agents can't see beginning at entrance and won't be waiting for at the exit point, is almost as easy as walking across.

Hilarious. The point is to make entrance a lot harder. Democrats hate that. They want to make it as easy as possible because they are pro-illegal immigration.
