President Donald Trump believes a border wall can stop undocumented immigrants. But in a 2004 speech resurfaced by "The Daily Show," Trump had some different thoughts on walls, at least when it comes to the metaphorical type.

As "national emergencies" go, illegal immigration across the border from Mexico just doesn't cut it. Illegal border crossings from Mexico have been on a long decline from the 1980s to the mid 2000s, when the government was apprehending between 1-1.6 million foreigners crossing at the southern border each year to this past year, when the rate had fallen to under 300,000.

More Americans died from prescription drugs last year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War.

Trump may be handing both the House Democrats and Republicans frustrated with Trump's madness the issue that could actually get him impeached: the President's stated intent to bypass Congress with its Constitution-enshrined power of the purse by declaring a "national emergency" so he can build his wall along the whole Mexican border on his own dubious authority.

But, as underwhelming as the Democrat official response was from Pelosi and Schumer, Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have been marvelous.

Sanders's opening salvo? "As we speak, some 800,000 federal employees, people who are our neighbors, friends, and family members are going without pay. As working people, many of them are wondering how they will pay their mortgages, how they will feed their kids, and how they'll be able to go to the doctor. These are people in the FBI, in the TSA, in the State Department, in the Treasury Department, and other agencies who have, in some cases, worked for the government for years."

"Our federal employees deserve to be treated with respect," elaborated Sanders, "not held hostage as political pawns." Sanders packed more visceral humanity in the first minute or so of his remarks than in the entirety of Pelosi and Schumer's response. (Briahna Gray)

Schrodinger's trumpers strike again.

Are walls effective deterrents for immigration or are walls for going through, going over, going around, and getting to the other side of?

Is the caravan full of sickly and diseased lepers or superhuman strong men coming to take over America?

Is the wall already mostly built or does Mexico need to give us $5.7B to build it?

Is Mexico only sending rapists and murderers or are Mexicans stealing jobs from trump supporters?

Is Ivanka's private email server a harmless mistake or should they lock Hillary up?

Did we defeat ISIS in December or do we need to airstrike them today?

Did Obama abuse his executive power or was he a lazy do-nothing that vacationed too much while in office?

I'm beginning to think conservatives live in a quantum state.

Yes! That album rules. It's freaky but captivating. I also like "Regiment," the one with the Lebanese mountain singer.

It's awesome how much Liberals care about Federal workers when the shutdown is done by a Rep at the helm, but that same rhetoric is nowhere to be found when it is a Dem at the helm of a shutdown. Hypocrisy is killing this country. The issue sucks that these employees are not getting paid but try to fix the issue completely instead of only calling it an issue when it serves your purposes.

What Dem shutdown might that be?

"Hypocrisy is killing this country."

Let's discuss the largest example of hypocrisy in history; i.e. so called fiscal conservatives passing a tax cut worth 1.8 trillion dollars for the 1%. Humtake, probably avoid using the word "hypocrisy" in the future, it makes you look ridiculous.

Some where in the Universe there is a video floating about with Ted Cruz reading Green Eggs and Ham in a feeble and bazaar attempt to prevent Americans from getting access to affordable Healthcare.

I kid you not.

In addition to being in a "bazaar" it was also very "bizarre"...

Clearly Mexicans are raping and murdering the people Turmpublicans normally would.

It was a waste of those graduates' time to have to sit there and listen to Trump talk. He says one thing on Saturday, then contradicts it on Monday, and on Tuesday he's back to what he said on Saturday, and on Thursday he denies he said anything inconsistent. He's not worth listening to because nothing he says matters. The only thing that matters is what he does.
