President Donald Trump walked out of discussions to end a partial government shutdown, now in its third week, calling the talks with congressional Democrats "a total waste of time."

He was honest in asking what it would take to pass the $$ for the wall.... and they were honest in saying they will NEVER do it. So he walked out. The discussion is over at that point and no need to remain. If Pelosi and Schumer refuse to negotiate the shutdown as of today is on them.

If Pelosi and Schumer refuse to negotiate

Pelosi and Schumer aren't obligated to entertain Trump's demands for his pet project.

He said, over and over again, Mexico would pay for the wall.

So. Let him go get the money.

the shutdown as of today is on them.

Nope. Not in the slightest. Trump caused the shut down. Trump had an offer to fund his wall which he refused. He said the shutdown was on him.

Trumpublican morons, like you, are scurrying around, like rats, trying to defend the fat orange idiot.

Trump refused to negotiate.
The shutdown as of today is still on him.

See how easy that was?

"Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!" Trump said.

As the partial government shutdown continues for a third week, veterans groups are sounding the alarm because what they say is the disproportionate impact on America's veterans and a growing fear that financial uncertainly could lead to self-harm.
An estimated one-third of the federal workforce is made up of veterans, according to the Office of Personnel Management, meaning that more than 250,000 veterans are not currently receiving paychecks.
"This shutdown has consequences that go beyond loss of pay," the Union Veterans Council said in a statement this week. "Financial instability is one of the main cause of suicides among the veterans' community.

The shutdown began last month, when Republicans still controlled both the House and Senate, and after the Senate unanimously passed a funding bill that would've kept the government open but didn't fund Trump's wall.

But in response to criticism from his far-right supporters, Trump at the last minute decided not to support the Senate bill. During an Oval Office event with Pelosi and Schumer, Trump even said he was "proud to shut down the government" and vowed he wouldn't blame Democrats for it.

- someone so ridiculous.

You mean like someone who wants to build walls on a flood plain? When there is already a treaty against it.

Or someone so ridiculous that everything they say about a subject is a lie?

Drugs come mostly through ports of entry, nada to do with walls, for instance.

"Declaring a national emergency "could be the only politically realistic way out of the shutdown crisis," our Washington correspondent writes. But "it would be an extraordinary violation of constitutional norms -- and establish a precedent for presidents who fail to win approval for funding a policy goal.""

And you are as clueless as is our President. Walls won't stop illegal immigration. Boats, ladders, tunnels are all things that immigrants understand. Now, let me ask you, what about punishing employers? Putting them in jail? That's a strategy that would work, are you opposed to it?

If Pelosi and Schumer refuse to negotiate the shutdown as of today is on them.

The fact that Pelosi and Schumer were at the table indicated that they were willing to negotiate. However, maintaining your original position is a valid negotiation tactic. Trump should be very familiar with hard nosed negotiators because he is one. He was willing to negotiate with his sub contractors to give them pennies on the dollar for work done on his properties. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, he is complaining?

Given the fact that Trump walked out of the meeting, Pelosi and Schumer should insist that the next meeting be done on their turf; at the capitol building. Let him storm out of the meeting then and have to explain his actions to a gaggle of reporters.

Walls won't stop illegal immigration. - #36 | Posted by Danni at 2019-01-10 08:23 AM

Just like gun control legislation won't stop gun violence and anti-abortion legislation won't stop abortions, no one has claimed that the wall would stop illegal immigration, and only someone using dishonest tactics would pretend that they have. As those first two are designed to cut down on the loss of human life, the wall is designed to cut down on the influx of unlawful immigrants.

It's all good when a Democrat does it:

"Republicans said tense negotiations over raising the $14.3 trillion debt limit at the White House ended when President Obama stormed out of the meeting with a stern warning to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.): "Don't call my bluff."

"It ended with the president abruptly walking out of the meeting," Cantor told reporters Wednesday upon returning to the Capitol."

That article is a pile of crap Avigdore. A bunch of sentences that really don't make a coherent thought. A huge pile of garbage.

"As those first two are designed to cut down on the loss of human life, the wall is designed to cut down on the influx of unlawful immigrants."

When cracking down on employers would actually work and not cost billions of dollars. Great choice.

I'm in favor of it, but that will probably be as effective as incarcerating drug dealers is at reducing drug-dealing. Arrest one, another one pops up to take his place.

They agreed to fund the wall conditional on a DACA agreement and Trump refused. They also said they were willing to hold a separate vote on funding the wall of Trump would agree to reopen the government. Trump refused.

They have given him options. He screams and stomps his feet.
