The Mexican government announced that it will, for the first time, put guards at some 370 illegal crossing points along the country's southern border with Guatemala to finally accomplish the task of securing the porous border.

Interesting how a simple change in requiring US asylum applicants from outside of Mexico to remain in Mexico while their applications are pending (in compliance with current international law) now has Mexico interested in securing their southern border.

Progress. Which is hated by pro-illegal immigration lobby.

Now we just need to crack down on employers who hire illegals and that whole dynamic will shift. Unfortunately, here in California that goes against Gov. NewBeam's inauguration pledge to fortify our sanctuary state status.

I see the xenophobia continues.

You guys would hang your "No Jews Allowed", signs so proudly during the 1930s and 1940s.

"The Jews are taking our jobs, lowering wages, and over populating our community! Plus they increase crime and sleep with our women!"

~Nulli, RoC, and the Xenophobe crew.

Carry on with your disgusting display.

Starting with Trump properties. Long history of hiring undocumented workers.

I couldn't agree more, no employer should be immune from civil penalties for hiring illegal workers.

What you need to do is admit that we wouldn't be in the position that we're in if we would've done that from the beginning. And while you're at it, admit that greedy people who wanted cheap labor were Influencing every one of your politicians to get just that.

An un-baited hook doesn't catch anything.

I have been saying both of those things all along.

Now you need to admit that we wouldn't be in the position that we are in if we hadn't insisted that Mexico control their southern border from the beginning and required them to host the non-mexican asylum seekers while their applications were pending as required by international law.

FTA
"Sanchez Cordero did not set a date for accomplishing the task of securing the porous border. But she said Mexico would not allow a repeat of events In October, when caravans of Central American migrants scuffled with Mexican police on the main border bridge, and then simply crossed the river to gain entry"

So right now it's just tough talk... kinda like Trump when he told us Mexico would pay for the wall...

You can't they typically have a work visa ...

1. come across border
2. get caught by BP
3. receive work visa and wait for deportation hearing (2yrs)
4. find legal job using work visa.
5. work until visa expires
6. go back to Mexico
7. back to 1. repeat.

Why do you think so many illegal immigrants have been deported multiple times.

The only thing you can go after is day workers (roofers, landscapers) ... good luck with that.

Now, you're about. To hear your retarded president speak about how all this is one party's fault.

Good luck with that.

The border is a non-issue. The number of undocumented immigrants in the US has stayed about the same since 2008.

The problem is the people already in the US that are working illegally.
If you want to reduce that, hunt the employers.

-Why do you think so many illegal immigrants have been deported multiple times.

Yes, it used to be young males who would work for a while, go home voluntarily or involuntarily, then return. Now it's families that stay permanently.

"I see the xenophobia continues."

When wanting people to follow the law becomes evidence of xenophobia, it's time to rethink your place in society.

- follow the law

Would be completely honoring the lawful right to apply for asylum rather than putting up barriers and punishing prospective applicants.

- lawful right to apply for asylum

As if legitimate asylum seekers are anything more than a trivial percentage of the 400,000 illegals apprehended every year and the 11 to 22 million illegals already here. Pure deflection.

lawful right to apply for asylum

They can apply at any embassy or consulate.

They just choose to jump ahead of the line, by entering then applying. If denied or accepted you can't find them .... they also have a work visa... so can be employed legally.

"You may apply for asylum if you are at a port of entry or in the United States. You may apply for asylum regardless of your immigration status and within one year of your arrival to the United States."

www.uscis.gov

embassies and consulates are not ports of entry nor are they in the United states.

Can I Apply for Asylum at an American Embassy?

No. You must be physically present in the United States to apply.
