Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, December 18, 2018

The purported birth last month of the world's first gene-edited human babies, claimed by a Chinese scientist, spurred a wave of global outrage. Scientists denounced the (as yet unconfirmed) experiment as irresponsible, and the development reinforced fears that the redesigning of DNA is moving ahead too fast and without necessary oversight.

The Infotech revolution is racing ahead at full speed.

The Biotech revolution is racing ahead at full speed.

We are not ready. Our minds are still unprepared to deal with the rapid changes that are coming.

This article states what any non-ego driven (or less ego driven) scientist already knows.

We've barely scratched the surface of the complexities of biological systems. Only those looking to make their mark on history at any cost push this still dangerous methodology forward.

We're still decades away from being able to grow a functioning brain in a democrat voter.

Stop being so alarmist, every time humans modify nature, only good happens.........

That's why we need gene editing to make us smart enough to deal with the consequences of gene editing.

You have no idea what is heading our way do you? The problem Tao is we do not even understand what consciousness is or how our brains even work.

AI algorithms will soon know more about you and I than we do about ourselves. You think we are being manipulated by Infotech and big DATA now?

What will happen when AI knows more about how our brains work than we do? Who will control that technology?

Genetics will soon be creating super humans and human hybrids. WE can deal with people who have brown skin. How will we ever deal with a Minotaur or a lion-man or a cat-woman?

Now combine Infotech with Biotech. yeah... We are not even close to ready.

WE can deal with people who have brown skin. should have been:

WE can NOT EVEN deal with people who have brown skin.

And working on infotech side of things and seeing just exactly how fast things are progressing - it's scary as hell. We are not close to being ready. We are not even close to ready to deal with the consequences that advances in AI and tech in general has at our doorstep.

I can deal with brown skin, and I had a huge crush on Cheetara as a kid so bring on the cat women!

I doubt it will involve gene editing for our species to keep up with the levels of AGI that are coming.

Ray Kurzweil's Singularity thesis suggests it will be nanobots or something similar that will increase our intellectual capability.

Gene editing could make average people's offspring smarter than they are, but there's still physical, humanistic limit. Tangible, intravenous technology will be the only manner we will possibly have to keep up with the AGI. And if we don't do that, we are completely screwed.

Even more so, if we don't do that, the idea that this entire existence is nothing more than a computer simulation will become more and more solidified in my mind.
