Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, December 08, 2018

President Donald Trump said Saturday that court filings in the Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen cases showed no collusion between his 2016 presidential campaign and Russia. "We're very happy with what we're reading because there was no collusion whatsoever," Trump told reporters Saturday at the White House before boarding Marine One for the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia. Trump tweeted earlier Saturday morning that it was "time for the Witch Hunt to END," referring to Mueller's investigation.

... "We're very happy with what we're reading because there was no collusion whatsoever," ...

I suppose we'll be afflicted with lots of comments about "synergy" also not being a crime.

But it doesn't surprise me that Pres Trump is ratcheting up his bashing of Mr Mueller.

The investigation seems to be getting rather close to Trump's inner circle.

I don't know about Pres Trump, I am wondering who will be invited to the next set of indictments.

There's one significant event that stands out for me, and I've not yet seen too much about it ... Mr Kushner's attempts to set up a "back channel" communication link to Russia using Russian equipment to bypass the normal US - Russia communications channels.

I have to think that something like that would have Mr Mueller's attention at some point.

It's likely gotten his attention, but he's been so methodical and tight lipped it's likely part of the grand finale if there's good evidence of it occurring and them able to tag specific people with specific parts in that plot.

Here's why he's freaking out....

"Trump was already in trouble on three investigative fronts: collusion, obstruction and campaign finance crimes," former White House ethics counsel Norman Eisen tells me.

"The Cohen memos advance all three: on collusion, with new revelations of the mosaic of contacts with Russia to help Trump, such as the ‘synergy' conversations with a Russian; on obstruction with the disclosure that Cohen shared his ‘contacts with persons connected to the White House during the 2017–2018 time period' (this could also be relevant to collusion depending on the content); and on campaign finance crimes with the government's adoption of Cohen's account of working with Trump and the Trump Organization on the crimes and the coverup."

'Totally Clears the President'? What Those Cohen and Manafort Filings Really Say
www.lawfareblog.com

...In short, the Department of Justice, speaking through the acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, is alleging that the president of the United States coordinated and directed a surrogate to commit a campaign finance violation punishable with time in prison. While the filing does not specify that the president "knowingly and willfully" violated the law, as is required by the statute, this is the first time that the government has alleged in its own voice that President Trump is personally involved in what it considers to be federal offenses....

Trump has a runny rump because Flynn flipped and he was at the Kushner and Kislyak meeting to setup a back channel to Russia.

That is collusion. Book em Dan'o

""We're very happy with what we're reading because there was no collusion whatsoever," doesn't sound like a "massive" freakout.
