Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly will step down toward the end of the year, removing a key force for West Wing discipline from President Donald Trump's inner circle. White House aides believes that Nick Ayers, Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff, will be named acting chief of staff, two aides said. Ayers has emerged as a favorite to replace Kelly; Trump has recently taken the unusual step of inviting Ayers to accompany him on Air Force One, even without Pence present, people familiar with the situation said.

Well, if the wheels are coming off this fast with an adult like Kelly in the room, it can't end well when Hannity or some other Faux News idiot gets put into the position.

Tillerson, Haley and Kelly have all left. They were literally the only three people I can think of who had any tether to reality and competence in this entire administration. As obvious as Trump's deficiencies were long ago, it's too late to second-guess them now. Maybe they thought they could serve as moderating influences to keep Trump's childish instincts in check for the good of the country. But, like Comey, and most of America, they realize it's hopeless.

Then there's the inevitable Trump tweet for every occasion.

In 2012, he mocked Obama for having three chiefs of staff in three years. Granted, that's a pretty significant turnover too, but the fact of the matter is, Obama ended up with only five chiefs in eight years. Trump will soon have his third chief in less than two years.

If Trump had any humility whatsoever, he'd be feeling pretty stupid right now. But instead, he's just stupid right now.

@#4 ... Tillerson, Haley and Kelly ...

I'd also include Gen Mattis on the list, though he has not left. Yet.

An ignominious end to a great career serving the nation. Now voters know why teachers in bad middle schools get burned out so quickly...
