Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, December 02, 2018

Rioters ran amok across central Paris on Saturday, torching cars and buildings, looting shops, smashing windows and clashing with police in the worst unrest in more than a decade, posing a dire challenge to Emmanuel Macron's presidency. ... In Paris, police said they had arrested almost 300 people while 110 were injured, including 20 members of the security forces. Police fired stun grenades, tear gas and water cannon at protesters at the top of the Champs-Elysees boulevard, at the Tuilleries Garden near the Louvre museum and other sites.

--Strange this story is no where to be found on the Retort.

In all fairness, the MSM-DNC doesn't care for the story either. It's been going on for 2 weeks and the smug Macron is reeling.

Gotta hand it to those Frenchies, they don't mess around when starting a revolution.

The fuel tax is thestraw that broke the camel's back.....

It will be claimed it's the only reason, but really...

"The taxes are rising on everything. They put taxes on top of taxes," said Mr. Lacombe, as he and his wife prepared to join what has come to be known as the "Yellow Vests" protest after the vests that are required in French cars and that were worn by the demonstrators.

It's hilarious the French require cars to have yellow vests.... They are needed at the dump here in San Jose.

How come you guys don't give such glowing reviews when Antifa (BOO!) does the same thing here? How come you're not admiring how "they don't mess around when starting a revolution"?

I think the police in major cities wouldn't put up with people throwing molotov cocktails. They would be shot pretty quickly.

I am not really admiring JPW, they are upset over government taking away their livelihood (Gilets jaunes), not the government giving you something for free (Anitfa) ...

Its a distinction with a difference in this case.

One thing to love about the French. If they're unhappy with their government, they revolt!

Numerous times throughout history, the people of France have fought for a better life for all.

They love Revolution so much. They help us with ours.

Too bad after a couple hundred plus years. We've all given up freedom for cable and couches.

Ahhhh RT

Andrea you do realize who these people protesting are correct? Or should I say right? "The white middle class, the forgotten middle class in France" - Marine Le Pen's people.

Don't get me wrong Marcon is deeply unpopular - much like Trump here. But in France, just like in the US, only half of households have to pay income tax, but everybody pays social charges - there is a distinction. The French are suffering from the same thing happening in this country - erosion of the middle class. That is the true problem and it isn't a right or left thing at all but rather a corporate thing.

It would probably be a good idea. However the violence is inexcusable. Sounds like it is a limited group of the protestors responsible for the violence and damage - lock them up. Right or left - I have no problem with peaceful protest. It's when the tools start rioting - that's an issue.

When Nazi Marchers get violent, that's when Dulli grabs his can of All-Purpose Antifa Obfuscation.... and applies it liberally.

I honestly think that these types of violent protests will be the wave of Europe's future. There is too much change, discontent and uncertainty. Something's gotta give.

"...with the best economy ever." - #27 | Posted by Spork at 2018-12-03 04:58 PM

But calling it the "greatest ever" goes too far, as it can't top the late 1990s or the stellar growth in parts of the 1940s, 1960s and 1980s, according to key data.

"Can you name a single elected official who has proposed this, or are you just yanking that out of your ass?"

He pays an immigrant to yank it for him.

Then again, so does President Donald J. Trump.

A general strike is the ultimate power which can bring down any government. For this reason it was made illegal in the USA under Taft-Hartley.

Here, try this:

Nancy Pelosi in 2013 put it very clearly: "If somebody is here without sufficient documentation, that is not reason for deportation." Hillary Clinton said much the same during one of the 2016 primary debates: "Of the people, the undocumented people living in our country, I do not want to see them deported." Likewise with Bernie Sanders, at the same debate; in response to Jorge Ramos's question, "And can you promise not to deport immigrants who don't have a criminal record?" Sanders answered, "I can make that promise."
