Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

While the election results won't be final, possibly for days, by Wednesday morning it seemed likely that Democrats could represent five of of the seven congressional districts that are are entirely or partially in the county -- a once-unthinkable prospect in the land that spawned the modern-day GOP.

there were signs of the dam cracking back in 2005. I am glad I got to live there during the best years.

to racists, "best" = "most dominated by the wishes of wealthy white people."

Remember Beverly Hills 90210, and then there was that spinoff The OC?

Those spolied brats are exactly the kinds of kids rich Republican parents raise. Kids like Brett Kavanaugh.

#6 | Posted by SpeakSoftly So I guess all black dominated cities are progressive utopias? Simple question, which would you rather live? Orange county or any black dominated city or neighborhood? Please name one.

So life behind the "Orange Curtain" is now going to represent the majority.

Not sure how you could assign that position to me based on what I posted. Do you do better arguing against straw men than humans?

That is really a stupid and racist question but let me entertain it anyway with 3 answers.

Friendly MD, Ladera Heights CA and the one I live in which is 73% black 13% another minority and the rest of us..

#10 | Posted by RightisTrite, Friendly MD-pop 9500, Ladera Heights CA, pop 6500, are your arms tied cherry picking? I am sure Obama's old neighborhood has a larger population and similar numbers. But you know these little suburban enclaves are not the rule. How about Saint Louis, Baltimore or Washington DC? Those are cities and another unpleasant fact. Anywhere there are large numbers of black people there is a high degree of violent crime. Places like London England, Paris France, or almost any city in Italy. You might blame racism, but the numbers are similar in every black African nation. One exception, Madagascar. Seems they have plenty of problems, but violent crime is not one of them.

Boy you are really stupid.
Please... grown a brain.

Washington DC? The land of white collar crime run mostly by white people?
White collar crime sucks the life out of a community and country to the tune of $400 billion a year and it is committed mostly by white people.

Yours is typical white rationalization because you are afraid someone is going to hurt your precious lily white body.... while your team touts the violence because that is what you fear.
But no... in your mind robbing people of their life savings isn't violence... meanwhile 7 out of 10 suicides are white males... and what is the reason? Usually financial. If a white man dies buy a GSW it is twice as likely self inflicted than as a victim of someone else.

Yeah urban violence is ugly... which is why it gets so much attention... but that fact remains... if we are talking about violence death by suicide is twice the rate of homicide... and its mostly white men...you are killing yourselves... it is so bad 30% rise since 2000 that it is effecting white male life expectancy stats...its in the top ten causes of death...and no one gives a $#!†... not even you.... because its easier to blame it on assorted minorities who's suicide rates have fallen... and who have also benefittecd from the overall decline in homicide rates....its ironic.

Now go ahead and continue your cherry picking.

#12 | Posted by RightisTrite So you are pointing out that it is a miserable time to be a white man? Maybe we should get organized and make our environment more acceptable to us.

You already tried that... that is how we got the orange bloat bag in office... Not going very well is it. He is leaving office in disgraced. Nothing gonna stop that train wreck.

There are plenty of white men that will survive are surviving the experience because they are not stuck in it... meanwhile you die hard idiots are screwing yourselves with your stupid.
But don't worry you are heading for the minority in the next 15 years... like I said many many times... you are rotting from the inside. Buy all the guns you want... you only turn them on yourselves... really the odds are not in your favor... all those tricks that used to work are obsolete... your sick little superiority experiment has worked against you... you are a victim of your own success..
So go for it knucklehead... no one is afraid of you.

Here in Orange Co, in the 45th Congressional district, the district in which we live, the Democrat, Katie Porter, has for the first time pulled ahead of the incumbent Republican, Mimi Walters. As the final votes are being counted, they have been turning hard Blue, Porter having gained more than 2,500 votes since just yesterday.

Of the ten yet to be decided House seats nationwide, all of which are currently held by Republicans, the Democrat now leads in seven of those races. If this trend continues, the Democrat's pickup could be a total of 40 seats, 17 more than the 23 that they needed to regain the House.

And over on the Senate side, if the two remaining seats go Democratic, which I agree would be a long shot, this would mean that NOTHING would have changed, the Republicans would have the same 51 to 49 (47 Democrats and the two independents who caucus with them) advantage that they had BEFORE the election. When you consider all of the governor races that the Republicans lost and the over 300 seats in the various state legislatures that flipped, as well the other down-ballot loses, it's kind of hard to find the "tremendous success" that Trump took credit for at his Wednesday morning press briefing.

UPDATE: The vote count continues in SoCal.

In the 45th House district, Democrat Katie Porter added another 3,500 votes to her lead since yesterday, it's now just under 4,000 votes, over incumbent Republican Mimi Walters.

In the only other undecided House race left in California, the 39th House district (part of which is in Orange County), currently held by the Republicans, the Republican candidate, Young Kim, as seen her lead dwindle to only 122 votes over the Democrat, Gil Cisneros.
