Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Sen. Marco Rubio's twitter feed is filled with conspiratorial videos and questions about the legitimacy of the vote counting happening in Florida right now. "They make straw man argument that we must 'Count Every Vote'," Rubio said. What a difference 24 months make. Two years ago Rubio was urging people, for America's sake, to not give into the fear. "From a political stand point the easiest thing to do in this campaign is to jump on all those anxieties I just talked about - to make people angrier to make people more frustrated. I chose a different route and I am proud of that," Rubio explains that playing to people's fears is not what is best for America.

#2 They are pulling ballots from illegal voters. So no, every vote doesn't count. Votes postmarked after 11/7 don't count. Votes by illegals don't count. This supervisor of elections does not have a stellar past and neither does Debbie Wassermann Schultz who wants to oversee the process, when it comes to not breaking federal voting laws. Panama City was all but destroyed by Hurricane yet Mark Anderson and staff pulled off early voting, mail in ballots and votes made in person by the deadline. What is their excuse?

Brenda Snipes was originally appointed by Jeb Bush?

#5 If you followed my past posts you would know I can't stand Jeb and his crooked convicted felon of a brother who sold the state FCAT that has all but destroyed public education in the state.

I'm willing to bet you that the occurrence of all those problems is rare.

Republicans practice voter suppression. That's not rare.

#7 Try Google for Snipes and Schultz neither has a clean past in prior elections. She should have been fired for incompetence. WTF were all these ballots and why didn't she know about them until yesterday?

Snipes was practicing voter suppression until her side lost. Hence the hidden ballots.

You ever put on make up and try to entertain a room full of kids tripping on sugar fueled foods and drinks?

Clowns are fools. But we're no cowards.

You want to know why your comment is stupid, gracie?

The 3% discrepancy in governor/senate voting in Broward county is greater than the total number of voting day and mail in ballots cast in Panama city.

I'll wait and see if you have a calculator in your trailer to figure that one out.

The fear mongering is harmful to confidence in the election. From the little I've read Snipes is an incompetent idiot that shouldn't be in the position, yet, there she is. Nevertheless, the process must go forward and FL has enacted a framework that should inspire confidence. Today's Must-Read: Steve Huefner: "Counting Ballots Pursuant to Law is Not Stealing an Election"

Link to an annotated FL Elections Code. https://ebenchbook.wm.edu/florida/chapters/conducting-elections-and-ascertaining-the-results/

This section is most apropos to the mandatory recount, § 102.166 Manual recounts of overvotes and undervotes. Scroll down for regulations that will control most if not all controversies over individual ballots.

If there's a chance Gillum and/or Scott win, there's "vote fraud."

Thank you et_al, but I know many will not take the time to read the critically important and germane information so here it is:

Thus, it is beyond unseemly – indeed, it is downright destructive of public trust in our elections, and fundamentally inconsistent with the health of our representative democracy – for candidates to assert or imply that the reason that Election Night results have been changing in the past few days is because election officials have engaged in some sort of irregular or unlawful conduct to manipulate the results. For anyone who cares about democratic institutions, the responsible position is to let the counting proceed according to state law, and then if necessary to take advantage of recount, audit, and contest processes to ascertain whether any defects occurred in these processes.

We can revisit for future elections whether our system has come to rely too heavily on counting ballots days after Election Night. But that is a policy question for a later date, and all ballots cast in this year's elections must be scrupulously counted according to the laws established for this year's elections. Leaders of both parties, with the support of all concerned citizens, ought to condemn any effort to undermine this essential stage of the electoral process.

Cogent words to live by until there is concrete evidence of actual malfeasance and/or corrupt intent within the already laborious vote counting processes in some of the largest counties in America. There is a perfectly sane reason that Broward, Maricopa, and other extremely large counties take days, if not weeks, to complete their ballot counting processes: Their huge amounts of absentee, provisional, mail-in, and military ballots that often 'by-law' have to be processed one at a time to insure each vote's validity, almost insures that a net of more Democratic votes will be tallied due to the demographic make-up of these counties.

Rubio is correct, with Rick Scott still in charge there is every reason to be concerned, that Republican will steal another election. Count every vote, don't let Republicans eliminate legitimate votes. Its their favorite past time.
