Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, November 10, 2018

A social media war erupted between doctors and the National Rifle Association Thursday, just as 12 people were shot and killed at a California nightclub and hours before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new figures showing gun deaths on the rise across the country. "We need to ask our patients about firearms, counsel them on safe firearm behaviors, and take further action when an imminent hazard is present," Dr. Garen Wintemute, of the Violence Prevention Research Program at the University of California Davis Medical Center, wrote in one editorial in the magazine.

In protest all NRA members should stop going to doctors for any reason. After all, they're just librul quacks. Pretty soon the problem would be much better.

Welllllll in the world of republicl*wnery... this world would be a better place if MD's stopped treating GSW's all together... I mean what a waste of time treating one of the top ten causes of death in this country... even if it isn't a pre existing condition!!!

Interesting how the NRA wants to be consulted on health care.

i wish a few doctors would say that they'd prefer to NOT OFFER TREATMENT to NRA members or their family for any gun related injuries....the ensuing conversation would be very interesting

The blowback has been fierce. Click the tweet and see for yourself. The NRA has just shot itself in the foot. Maybe the doctors will, um, stay in their lane and let it bleed out.

Outrage often misses it's target, but firearm ownership is a political question not a health question.
Drs treating patients differently based on politics or any other non medical issue is neither good policy nor ethical. It's bad enough our healthcare is rationed by wherewithal to add a political criterion to judge a patients sanity or stability is worse than the supposed "cure".
Violence, whether gun or otherwise, is a symptom firearm ownership is not.

doctors should stop treating gunshot wounds, ya know, before they check for party affiliation.
