In one of his final acts before being forced out as attorney general by President Donald Trump, Jeff Sessions signed an order limiting the Justice Department's ability to use consent decrees -- similar to the one pending in Chicago -- to adjust the behavior of local police departments accused of systemic civil rights abuses. ... Vanita Gupta, a key Obama-era Justice Department official in the Chicago investigation, called Sessions' order "a slap in the face to the dedicated career staff of the department who work tirelessly to enforce our nation's civil rights laws. "These agreements have judicial oversight and are used only when there is clear, overwhelming and well-documented evidence," said Gupta, now president of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. "The rationale for such oversight has not disappeared."

Someday we'll elect a human president again and they'll reverse virtually everything these cretins have touched.

Sometimes I don't know which is worse, the abuse or resistance to change.

Considering they are hand in glove things have not gotten better whatsoever in over 40 years.

My generation was sacrificed to the most greedy, corrupt humans on this planet. All of us are struggling just to get food, let alone keep safe from police interactions. In my area the police aren't raiding homes for marijuana in the last couple years. I still know of people who lost everything because the police are the arm of totalitarianism. They don't get their home back, their family, job or anything.

It's no wonder the homeless population is increasing everyplace.

A month ago I saw an entire family - mom, dad, grandmother with a young teenager and a baby begging for food. I gave them five dollars and a box of cookies - that's all I had. It's impossible to understand why this is allowed to happen, let alone continue to increase knowing the root causes are poverty and mental health. Instead we have increased police violence and a government made by corporations for corporations.
