Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

E.J. Dionne Jr.: Democrats are projected to win the popular vote in House races by 9.2 percent. This is a significantly larger share than the Republicans won in their own recent blowouts. Republicans got 7.1 percent in 1994, 7.2 percent in 2010 and 5.7 percent in 2014. This landslide for the opposition party is a repudiation of President Trump. Only House races reflected the opinion of the entire country. And flipping the House will alter the balance of power in important ways. Not only will Democrats be able to hold Trump accountable and launch investigations into administration abuses. They will also have a major impact on the budget. They will be able to defend the Affordable Care Act. And they will begin the task of laying out a longer-term alternative to Trumpism.

If the guy in charge is a sociopathic moronic con man, grid lock is great.

It means the only reason repubs are in power is because they're great at cheating the system.

It means you mouth breathing morons are over represented in the government and the majority of the country disagrees with your agenda and values.

Cheating and inspiring bigots is the only things repubs can actually manage.

And your inability to understand what it means is proof that trump supporters are as stupid as ever.

It means that across all 435 Congressional districts, when all the votes are counted, Democratic candidates will have won the popular vote by 9.2% over Republican candidates.

That vote?

Oh, and the national vote totals reflect the will of the people, and the mood of the people.

So, yeah, it does count.

Protesters Send Message to Tucker Carlson outside His Home: ‘We Know Where You Sleep at Night'
By Jack Crowe

A group of protesters congregated outside what they claimed was Fox News host Tucker Carlson's home in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night to chant threatening messages.

Smash Racism D.C., a self-described "anti-fascist" group, posted a video of their members screaming obscenities at Carlson's house and blaming his "policies" for the deaths of thousands of people.

"Tucker Carlson, we will fight!" the protesters chanted. "We know where you sleep at night!"

As far as actually counting it is in itself meaningless under our system. However, it is very meaningful that the majority of the country who turned out to vote was AGAINST the republican agenda. Trump has clearly never had a mandate.

A tie?

Democrats won the US House
Democrat's vote margin bigger than Tea Party's in 2010.
Biggest GOP loss since the Watergate mid-term election in 1974
Republicans lost 323 state legislative seats (367 since Trump took office)
Republicans lost 7 governorships, including key 2020 Midwest states in PA, WI and MI.
6 state legislatures flipped control from GOP to Democratic (7 since Trump took office)
And regarding the loss of 367 state legislative seats:
Conservatives called attention to the loss of 1,000 state legislative seats during Obama's 8 years in office.

Trump accomplished 1/3 of that in only 2 years in office

All of that is supposed to be a tie?

"How many reps does NY state have? How many reps does WY have. This country is not a democracy no matter what you think."

The House was originally created as a truly representative democratic body, with one representative per 30,000 people.

But it's not that way any more.

The House robs New York of per capita representation and gives it to Wyoming.

The problem with doing that is the Senate is alreay set up to give all states an equal say, regardless of size, which means smaller states get more say than they democratically deserve.

This country's government is biased towards rural land owning interests; because those are formerly slave-holding intersts, who got even more of a handout in terms of representation wity that 3/5 thing.

America is conservative. It's just not conservative as a reflection of what the American people want. It's conservative because the Founders gave slave owning land holders a massive handout in terms of representation.
