More than 150 years after the ratification of the US Constitution's 13th Amendment, Colorado has officially abolished slavery. Coloradans voted Tuesday for Amendment A, a measure removing language in the state constitution that allowed prison labor without pay. Colorado is one of more than a dozen states whose state constitution technically still allows involuntary servitude as a form of criminal punishment.

Good. Many states use non-violent drug offenders as free labor to many businesses under the guise of "faith based reform camps". The business owners in turn will funnel money to the elected officials that support this type of slavery.

It becomes more and more apparent, in state after state, that reforms to things like involuntary servitude to gerrymandering to restoration of rights for felons who have served their sentences....will ONLY come from initiatives by citizens. Legislators don't have the courage to reform much of anything and that is probably why ALEC is pushing a proposal to outlaw citizen's initiatives or to make them much harder to bring to the ballot. ALEC is an organization which has caused more harm to average citizens, on purpose, than any organization in American political history. They should be reviled and any Congressman or Legislator or Governor who cooperates with them should be held in contempt.

I wish there was a "Well DUH!" label. Neither PARTY is 100% about doing what is right for citizens and they will not be until:

We make a constitutional amendment declaring corporations are NOT people.
We make a constitutional amendment saying Money does not equal speech.
We take big and dark money out of politics period.
We limit lobbyists both in quantity and what they can do. (Like say write the legislation...)
We get serious about people working as foreign government agents/lobbyists.
