Democrat Tony Evers defeated Republican Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin on Tuesday, denying Walker a third term after years of failed attempts to beat the prominent governor. Evers, the state schools superintendent, had 49.6 percent of the vote to Walker's 48.5 percent when the Associated Press called the race with 99 percent of precincts reporting.

Evers campaigned on the promise of cutting middle-class income taxes, eliminating a tax credit program for manufacturers and possibly raising the gas tax to pay for roads.

Evers is a former teacher who's been state schools superintendent since 2009. He turned his understated personality to his advantage in the campaign, arguing that voters were tired of divisiveness and yearned for more collegial politics.

Irony alert. Recently the GOP controled state legislature changed the criteria for an automatic recount to less than 1 percent. Per the AP, Walkers lost by 1.16 percent.

Oh the Wisconsin "miracle" is over. Maybe now the government can work to benefit the citizens of Wisconsin.

After the sedatives wear off perhaps WISGOD will grace us with an appearance.

I hope the new governor gets out of that FOXCONN debacle if at all possible.

Fox and Conn, combined it's appropriately named.

It's about time, Wisconsin. Not sure how much of Walker's damage he'll be able to do, though, considering the legislature, but divided government is a good thing.

In my lifetime the closest thing to fiscal sanity has been when a Democrat was in the WH and the GOP controlled the House.

You mean when the GOP is in its "fiscal Conservatives" personality?

That must be why you work so hard to make sure a repub stays in the white house. Even if he's a free spending bankruptcy artist.

Perhaps the biggest successful con job in American history.. the GOP convincing America that they are the party of fiscal conservatism.

It is unfortunate that I can only give you 1 NW for this.

I read a bit about the Foxcon deal. It looks like Wisconsin got robbed. I hope they can tear up that stinker of a deal.

"that stinker of a deal."

Aw, c'mon. $1,500,000 of taxpayer money per job is a GREAT deal for Wisconsin!

Finally the crook Scott ------ got beat. He needs to be investigated for his crimes and live out the rest of his days in prison.

He is fighting to the bitter end. He refuses to concede. Of all people HE is claiming ballot tampering. He did however shoot himself in the foot. He threw a hissy fit when recounts were demanded and paid for by the opposition in the 2016 elections so he worked with his partisans in the state legislature to pass a law in Wisconsin that does not allow recounts if the margin is greater than 0.5%. The margin in this vote is 1.2% so Scotty is SOL

It's always beautiful irony when a politician is impaled with his own spear.

Evers was the only candidate in the Dem primary who said he wouldn't tear up the Foxconn deal. He was a boring, uninspiring centrist Dem which is why the race was so close. This should have been a tap-in; our Dem Senator won among the same statewide electorate by nearly 11 points.

Evers is a pragmatist. He does not support the FoxConn Deal. He just acknowledges that with republicans controlling both houses and the judiciary in Wisconsin he will not be able to "unring that bell" and must instead focus on mitigating the effects.

It's more unfortunate that you're still conned to vote GOP.

That doesn't negate much of anything i said. Regardless of whether the Foxconn deal can be reversed, Evers was a candidate that did not inspire much of anyone which is why he performed so much worse than a hard left-leaning Senator.

He still can't look at his Scott Walker shrine without bursting into tears so he's laying low for the day.

Wisgod is lapping Walker's tears, wondering why they taste like arsenic.
