Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, November 05, 2018

Two years after his election, President Donald Trump still hasn't nominated ambassadors to two of the most important U.S. allies in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and Turkey -- as became apparent after the murder of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul. There's no U.S. ambassador in Mexico, our troubled neighbor to the south. No ambassador in nuclear-armed Pakistan, arguably the most dangerous country on Earth. No ambassador in Egypt, the most populous country in the Arab world. No ambassador in Jordan, a vulnerable ally sandwiched between Syria and Israel. No ambassador in South Africa, Australia, or Singapore.

If only an obstructive opposing party wouldn't stand athwart this Administration's yeoman-like efforts to field quality candidates of their choice through a recalcitrant Congress... err, the GOP controls all three branches of government....

If only the Republicans could actually help government to efficiently function as it was designed instead of treating actual governing like children treat cooties on a grade school playground if it doesn't involve cutting taxes for the wealthy, stacking the courts with 'right'-minded jurists, defending gun rights or projecting US military might.

If only....

If the government had 18 more ambassadors you couldn't drown it in a bathtub. Besides, Kushner is going to fix all that.

Keep in mind folks, this isn't about political partisanship for Tremain. Any news that can be even remotely viewed as hurting American interests is celebrated by this Texastani "native".

Trump doesn't care--he thinks he is doing a good job, saving money on the State Department's labor expense. His mouth-breathing supporters don't care--they cannot find most of these countries on a globe. The real losers are the American people, for two reasons: First, our nation loses the prestige of having its leader personally represented in foreign countries globally; second, embassies are centers for intelligence gathering, and if that mission is diminished in any way, the US is placed at greater risk.

Mexico could be convinced to take a greater role controlling illegal border crossings. The Saudis were sponsors of the 9/11 attacks and need watching. Pakistan is full of dangerous folks who HATE the US and have the weapons to demonstrate their hate. Turkey is really honked off about what the Saudis did to Jamal K. Meanwhile, The Dotard's foreign policy seems to be shouting about a line of poor people hundreds of miles away, each eager to make better lives for themselves and their families. MAGA, my ass...

"Waiting on the damn senate."

Couldn't even get through the first two phrases, could you?

"Two years after his election, President Donald Trump still hasn't nominated..."

Who is the Senate supposed to vote on, if Trump hasn't nominated anyone?

What does that even mean?

You reported on Trumps negligence? Good on you!

Who did you report it to?
