Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

"It's the worst campaign I've ever run against -- or it's the most brilliant," Jeff Roe, Cruz's chief strategist, told me. "He's the best and worst opponent we could have faced. He energized the left and raised tons of money, but had no plan for how to spend it and no plan for building the sort of coalition needed for a Democrat to win in Texas.

But elections are ultimately defined by wins and losses. Should O'Rourke suffer an anticlimactic defeat, given the fanfare surrounding his ascent, it will be fair to ask: Did the country's best candidate run its worst campaign?

Maybe he blew it on purpose

This article is a bit premature, the election hasn't happened yet.

This thread is an opinion piece aimed at disengaging Democratic voters.

Beto blew it. So. No point in voting.

It's a strategy.

Let's see if it works.

As far as Beto winning or losing.

I've said it for months. I don't think Beto has a chance. Texas is a red state.

But he sure did fight.

Let's see what the polls show tomorrow night.

He didn't fight. There was nobody to fight against. He ran in a vacuum until Raphael decided to bother with having an actual campaign.

Probably cause Cruz is still recovering from the asskicking he received from Trump.

If I were Beto, I would have aired footage of Donald Trump spanking Cruz during the primaries over and over again for the past month.

The SuperPACs that Beto doesn't accept money from are running them around the clock.

Seriously. How can anyone still respect Cruz after the savage beating he received for Trump.

His wife is ugly. His dad killed JFK.

Just play Trump saying that over and over again.

From what I've seen here in Texas, Beto hasn't gone negative. He doesn't even mention Cruz in his ads, just talks of his desires for Texas. Cruz just runs ads with Beto being "more liberal" than Pelosi. Republicans have been well trained to be triggered.

#9 it's not hard to train them when they're dumber than your average golden retriever.

OK, all that happened is Beto had to poise as a Hispanic, he isn't. Then he took a lot of out of state contributions from California and New York, which is very un-Texan. Being more like those looser states is the last thing any one around here wants. Plus he is for more gun control, the only gun control we accept here is the control that allows one to hit the target. Pro choose, in a state that has almost half the population that goes to church weekly. It was a big plus that the Dems spent a bunch of money on this race.

Looks like he did.

Yeah...the idiot ran in a state with twice as many Republicans as Democrats.

Hillary is laughing at this media-darling clown - if he had any gumption he would have been a carpetbagger like she was.

He should've moved to California, rather than move California cash to Texas.

"a carpetbagger like she was."

In the state she's lived in since Bill left the White House?

O'Rourke reminded people of Lurch Kerry, without Kerry's ketchup money.
