President Donald Trump went after House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday, saying one of the top Republican leaders in the President's party "knows nothing about" birthright citizenship and "should be focusing on holding the Majority" in the House of Representatives "rather than giving his opinions" on the issue.

Basically, Dotard is claiming that Ryan is not a member of a co-equal branch of Government.

He is telling him to shut up and dribble.

So spake HRH King Donald the Poozzeegrabbar.

Man, oh man, between Ryan understanding 8th grade civics, and that dang Constitution that wont let him do most of the things he wants to do, life is being very unfair to him.

This just in:

Paul Ryan has issued a statement acknowledging that Donald Trump would beat Paul Ryan in a marathon.

This whole anchor baby thing should be interesting.

Will probably end up in the Supreme Court. (Sadly Congress does not have the courage to address).

Which will the court deem more important, the intent of the amendment or how bureaucrats have interpreted the amendment?

"Will probably end up in the Supreme Court. (Sadly Congress does not have the courage to address)."

Congress did most certainly address it, in 1868. It is a good amendment, virtually all of us are descendants from immigrants and are citizens because of it. All this talk about birthright citizenship is just raw meat for Trump's hateful base. Any honest person who actually wanted to end illegal immigration would go after the employers but Trump's base never talks about that because really they're just a bunch of haters who don't like brown people.

Neither Trump nor Ryan is lawyer, so Trump is saying that he can consult lawyers, but Ryan can't. Trump also said no other nation honors birthright citizenship, when actually 30 do. So it appears that Trump's lawyers aren't advising him well.

Doesn't Trump's base think even a little bit, that they can't see through this man's multi-daily stupid statements? Perhaps they like having an ignoramus in our country's White House. I suspect that a good many non-Trump-rally Republicans, particularly women, think otherwise. And I've got to believe that even more Independents are fed up in general with the grand-old Republican Party that ran this man and continues to support him. We'll find out on Tuesday.

He loves the poorly educated. He could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose a single vote. They chant "tell the truth" to CNN in a defense of the biggest liar President this country has ever seen. So, the answer is no, they don't think even a little bit, they are stupid, they are racists, they feel they are victims. They are, in short, a mob.

That was my thought. SS Captain Miller.

"Will probably end up in the Supreme Court."

Personally I think it's all vote bait. If not, Kavanaugh will get an opportunity to confirm the REAL reason why Trump put him on the Supreme Court in the first place. Kavanaugh has only one Master and it isn't the Constitution. This low-life has done sole his soul and the devil has returned to collect.

Congress is not in session so NOTHING will happen until after the election. This is just electioneering on Trump's part to try to get his base off the lawn chairs and into the voting booth.

"Paste Eater is calling the shots"

More like the paste eater knows how to appeal to Trump's worst inclinations.

As I understand it, the anti-birthrighters, including Trump, are not saying they want to change birthright citizenship. Rather, they say it never existed -- that the Supreme Court has merely been misinterpreting the 14th Amendment all these years to wrongly include it. So ... if they're right ... my father, who was born in Michigan of Scottish immigrants, wasn't an American citizen by being born here, and he never became a naturalized citizen. And, since the same thing happened with my French-Canadian mother's family, she never became a citizen. And, since I have never become naturalized, I'm not an American citizen, either.

Wow, when Republicans get desperate, they really go banana-wacko, don't they? Like their new Willie-Horton style, anti-immigrant ad they're running this week.

I doubt that very many have read the whole of Emma Lazarus' poem, The New Colossus (1883):

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

These Trumpian days I'm having trouble reading that aloud with a steady voice.

How is that possible if you've gone to elementary school in the US? It's part of our National Identity.

Glad to hear that, Hagbard. I didn't read that whole poem in school. Happy to hear others have.
