I'd love to be able to say that someone in the Trump administration has finally made a good decision, but without a doubt there is more to this than meets the eye.

In any normal administration the president himself would be taking the Saudis to task. Instead we have one of his underlings not attending a conference. Wow, how ballsy.

WOW! Now Trumplethinskin will need to figure out a new way to pay for that exorbitant tax break.

And this is after the Saudis sent us a cool $100 million.

Gosh why would a Jew not want to set foot in Saudi Arabia just a week after the Saudi's murdered a guy with a bone saw?

The Jew is fine, because basically every government in the Middle East including Israel views the Muslim Brotherhood somehwere along the continuum of "existential threat."

Honestly if Trump or Obama had just droned this guy nobody would really care that much.

Read up on what happened to the publisher of "Inspire" for more detsils. Here, I'll make it easy:

This will not stop the negative PR.

If they want to stop the negative PR I suggest they come clean and stop killing and dismembering journalists.

Media saturation turned this tropical depression of a news story into a category 5 media hurricane in a quick hurry. Every day it something new from multiple sources-- a sustained rainstorm that peppers its readers of a bunch of half-facts and tenuously supported theories.

Reminds me of the same thing done in the run-up to the Iraq invasion.

It's also the same media outlets doing it. And those who like stick their noses in other countries' poo are whipped into an online fury.

The fetid stench of NEOCONS is all over this one.

A government that sent butchers to kill someone as the Saudis did never wanted it to really be a secret. It's a warning to others. They are basically saying that if any Saudi who criticizes them will now what to expect.

#12 Exactly. And cutting off his fingers before they killed him (if reports are accurate) wasn't just a form of torture, it was a warning to other journalists.

"(if reports are accurate)"

Or, if the same 'reports' are repeated often enough so that those who read or hear them assume they are accurate.

I thought I was watching a Mnuchin press conference, but it turns out it was The Incredible Mr. Limpet movie.

They'll just send someone else. Meanwhile, the Saudis will keep buying old mattresses from Trump tower for $20 million.

So all this is because a Saudi scumbag was killed by the Saudis in the Saudi Embassy for publishing BS about the Saudis? And I should care why?

#18 | Posted by bogey1355 at 2018-10-18 04:03 PM | Reply

Replace Saudi with American and let us know if you'd care then.

His last column was saying that they need a free press in the ME. He was not a scumbag, he was a journalist doing his job.

cancelling the trip allows trump to say "see how upset i am". the outrage is justified, it just won't be productive. UNLESS congress were to step up and impose meaningful sanctions against the kingdom. what are the chances? VOTE

ABC is reporting that Pompeo listened to audio of Khashoggi's murder. Yikes.
