Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Trump's latest addition to White House decor is a kitschy fantasy painting that shows him relaxing with Republican presidents of the past -- an update to a best-selling image commonly found in tourist gift shops and online galleries.

Despite Trump being in it, I kind of like the painting.

The artwork reminds me of that great artist who documented "Americana"...Norman Rockwell.

The painting itself doesn't bother me, the pathological narcissism and sociopathic self-centered nature of Trump's behavior is what is disturbing.

Obama was given a similar painting, but Obama had the good sense not to hang it up in the White House for all to see.

Norman Rockwell did not do paintings with people who committed treason in them. There are at least four people in that painting who did commit treason. Probably five. There are several great men who wouldn't associate with those treasonous bastards.

In any case it's an interesting lesson in how f'd up the Republican party has become.

Three of the men in that picture are remembered as great Presidents who stood for and behaved exactly the opposite of Trump.

Then there's the corrupt Nixon and his lackey Ford.

Plus the Bushes and Reagan off to the side (interesting choice of who sits where).

I'm curious why they left Hoover out? Roosevelt would probably vomit if he saw that painting.

Reagan's kids and VP all hate Trump so he'd have never supported Trump.

"Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), a fan of the artist's work, gave the print to Trump."

The print version goes sells for $155.00 – $995.00 depending on size, paper or canvas, and whether it was a limited edition.

You can also pick it up cheaper from "prints.com" if you need to have one for your Living Room, or directly from the Artist's website:

It was first brought up in #26. In #27 you asked for a link and #28 obliged. You immediately called #28 racist which is what I responded to.

Second, Obama's birth certificate was used as an racist end-around from bluntly saying he's un-American due to his race.

His race had nothing to do with it. It was used to disqualify him as POTUS because being born in Kenya (he was born in Hawaii) would mean he wasn't a natural born citizen thus he didn't meet a Constitutional requirement for POTUS. It's stupid but it's not racist.

Lastly, you're just a right-wing hater who enjoys his haterade the same way Nulli chugs his frilly ass California spritzers.

False. I criticized Obama here regularly for close to ten years and never, not once, got called a racist for that criticism by one of his supporters. The only ones who would do so were conservative critics trying to equate my criticism with their supposedly coded, but all too transparent, language. It's as if they wanted to pretend that Lee Atwater didn't reveal the rules of the game decades ago.

Don't care if anyone else already addressed the BS link from #26. Lies this disgusting have to be addressed.

twitchy.com

Watched the clip and read the entire Time printed speech. It does not say what you claim and since Michelle Malkin was the one promoting the idea - that says it all.

Obama never said the Selma March in 1965 inspired his parents to conceive him. He details how his parents were inspired (probably as individuals and a couple) by multiple events. Obama, in the same paragraph, talks about the ideas of Selma, President Kennedy's appeals in speeches to the world (1960-61), U.S. scholarship programs and Dr. King's work in Birmingham. All these events inspired his parents. These events span multiple events from 1956 to the 1960s. King's Birmhingham work (starting 1956 and throughout the 1960s) inspired people around the world. There was a civil rights MOVEMENT led by Dr. King NOT ONE SPEECH/EVENT on a specific day.

Only an idiot would contort themselves to see/hear what you claim Obama meant. In a world of Facebook BS headlines and no one reading the actual content, this is how the BS lies/evil works.

"An overwhelming majority of the time a criticism of Obama or his policies was made by a conservative said conservative was reflexively dubbed racist by some of his supporters."
#77 | POSTED BY JEFFJ

This is simply not true. The cries of racism were never reflexive, but the result of conservatives inability to rationalize their opposition. If you don't support Obamacare because you've "got the ACA" you might be a racist. If you were opposed to Obama's atrocious(!) act of wearing a tan suit but had zero issue with Reagan wearing one, you are most certainly racist.

If conservatives had rational explanations for their opposition that show they aren't opposing him due to race, liberals would be ecstatic. We don't want you morons to be racist, which is why we don't leave you people unchecked.

JeffJ I'm being very sincere here:

That's how reflexes work. For example, your critique is basically a reflexive response from you, whenever this topic comes up.

Race is has always had currency in American politics. When it comes to current events, Lee Atwater desrcibed with exacting precision how the GOP minted this coin.

You are looking at what that coin bought.

To put it in terms my fans can appreciate:

In this version of the fable, Lee Atwater is the Boy.
It ain't wolves he's looking out for.
One day, the villagers stoped responding to his incessant cries of "N_____! N_____!"
And that's how Obama got elected.

But all things come to pass, and now the evil Obama is gone. After endurung his tryanny of extending rights to the underprivileged, it will be a while before the villagers forget their mistake of not heeding Lee Atwater's call.

liberals wouldn't be ecstatic...they would be silent. But you gotta go with something...

and it's big business for the left on race baiting. I know I know.....you think it's all warranted and deserved.

Some of it is....but you have to ask yourself...is it working?

Is the racebaiting working? Look at who is occupying the White house...someone who was branded an outright racist by the media and did everything he could to insult minorities even while running....and certainly since he's occupied the white house.

You can keep on insisting any opposition to a democrat as racist. Forget about the reality that if Hillary had been president, the goal would have been to ensure she was a 1-term president and staunch opposition to every policy would have been the exact same.

But it's all racist because you want the charge of racism to stay alive.

As someone who wants democrats to start winning some elections.....it's my opinion that this constant racebaiting has desensitized everyone to the term.

It's not that calling a policy racist or a person a racist isn't warranted. It's that folks have grown weary to hearing it.

People that don't mind racists pursuing race-based agendas have grown weary of hearing it.

The rest of us not only think it's relevant that racists continue to pursue racist agendas, we think it's egregious enough to call it out.

That's because they are either racist or apathetic to real racism. My point stands. I don't understand why you think that the increase of overt racism from the right and the installment of an unelected racist to the presidency by a foreign power means that we should not call racists racist.

The problem is identity politics... That is what people are sick of. We are not weary of "hearing it" in regards to racism, we are weary of identity politics

People are capable of objecting to a democratic or republican idea on purely political lines and not be a racist or misogynistic, but the default reaction has become that you MUST be one if you disagree.

Fact is, unfortunately, ebs issue is with the "conservative" GOP being the de facto home of racists, and not DNC

If it were democrats, ebs would be totally crying racism as often as jeffyj claimed a "constitutional crisis" during OBAMAs tenure and not spinning tales about what people are tired of

It all depends on three things, imo, first, did you support similar policy proposals when it was a member of your party advocating for them, two, the logical validity of your opposition, and three, the language you use when expressing your dissatisfaction with a particular politician.

What? First, the burden is not on me to ignore others' racism. Second, racism is a character trait and people should absolutely be judged accordingly if they are racist. You're daft if you are intentionally suggesting otherwise. I stated multiple times that if you had valid criticism, use it. We think your kind are racist because you cannot explain why you criticize Obama for actions you take no issue with white presidents doing.

I'd love to have "great discussions" with you (and I have before with you, Eb) but great discussions cannot be had with irrational people. How can we have a great discussion when you all either refuse to or cannot answer for your policy positions without deflect to things that don't technically matter, such as which party or person instituted such policy?

Typical right-wing self victimization by the way; blaming us for "derailing" great discussion which cannot actually had when you are unable to rationalize your positions.

Nice strawman. Stop projecting your flawed view onto me. Explain the distaste for Clinton in real terms; not "she's a clinton" or "she's a woman". Why do I have to ask this twice? Instead of telling me I'm wrong and that you aren't racist or mysogynistic, give valid criticism as to why you opposed her. "anyone who wasn't for Hillary was a misogynist." No one on the left has claimed that, but the ones that cannot explain why they are against her must be due to something baseless like the fact that she is a woman or the fact that she is a clinton. "You're a fool if you think that wasn't going to continue to intensify had she won the election" What? I never said I didn't think the misogyny would increase. In fact I believe it would, just as racism increased because Obama was elected. The reasons I opposed Obama were policy and his lack of executive experience. On policy, I knew he was a big advocate of single payer. He was also talking heavily about closing Gitmo, which I thought was incredibly stupid. Further, he favored a cap and tax carbon regulation scheme which would, his words: "Cause electricity prices to necessarily skyrocket."

I opposed Hillary because she's incompetent and thoroughly corrupt. I opposed Trump as well. I voted Johnson.
