A year too early for the Lakers to be a contender.

Maybe, but I could see LeBron getting them there quickly.

You barfing out right-wing bromides while being a hardcore Laker fan is funny.

Do you yearn for the days of Rick Barry and the granny shot?

Barry was as white as a ghost, and his granny shot is an old fashioned set shot ... how do you square that with the games most incredible offensive force that is LeBron?

Leave it to pinch to politicize this thread. Give it a rest and contemplate that the Lakers might add even more championships to their 16 after they pick up another star or two next summer. Feel sorry--not--for you guys who didn't witness Showtime or the Kobe-Shaq Lakers.

Can't see them becoming contenders this year, unless they make a big move before the Feb. trading deadline. But that would mean giving up some of their young talent.

Better to wait until next summer, when James' presence might be decisive in attracting talent through free-agency.
