Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, October 11, 2018

Kanye West went on a long, rambling rant while meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Read a full transcript of his speech here. West talked about the love for his MAGA hat: "It was something about when I put this hat on, it made me feel like Superman. You made a Superman. That's my favorite super hero. And you made a Superman cape. And also as a guy that looks up to you, that looks up to Ralph Lauren, that looks up to American industry guys, non-political, no bullsh*t, put the beep on it, however you want to do it, five seconds delay. And just goes in and gets it done."

#2 - that would've been awesome!

I did find something out. {kan}Ye is bipolar. Or maybe not. Maybe he's just manic (he sure acted like it today). Anyway:

"I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I was connected with a neuropsychologist that worked with athletes in the NBA and the NFL. And he looked at my brain, equal on three parts, I'm gonna go ahead and drop some bombs on you -- 98 percentile IQ test. I had a 75 percentile of all human beings, but it was counting eight numbers backwards (unintelligible) so I'm going to work on that one. The other ones -- 98 percent. Tesla. Freud. So he said that I actually wasn't bipolar, I had sleep deprivation, which could cause dementia 10 to 20 years from now where I wouldn't even remember my son's name."

I have a question. Actually I have a few from the above snippet alone, but let me focus; if you're 98% on the IQ test, that puts you in the upper 2% of all human beings. So where is that "75 percentile" coming from?

And yes. I'm sure his balls are huge. He also said that. Big ones. He didn't say if they were in the upper 2% of all human beings...

I just read the transcript of his comments and it reminded me: Kanye is one of those people, famous or not, who sometimes will say something you can latch onto, something that sounds reasonable, maybe even important, but he can't stay focused. Like Trump, he can't avoid making it about himself. So of course Trump eats it up.

HERSCHEL WALKER CALLS FOR CNN TO FIRE DON LEMON OVER ‘RACIST' KANYE WEST CRITICISM.

Sellers' remark prompted laughter from Lemon and fellow panelist Tara Setmayer, who followed up by saying West is "the token negro of the Trump administration."

Walker, who has openly supported Trump, is also an outspoken advocate for mental health issues – which were also mocked during the segment. Walker took to Twitter to express his disbelief.

"Went to bed appalled over Don Lemon's despicable behavior laughing at Tara Setmayer and Bakari Sellers' awful remarks about Kanye West's visit with [Trump]! Woke up wondering why CNN doesn't take all three off the air?" Walker tweeted, adding the hashtag "#Shameful."

Its OK that Trump's daddy grew a $413 million empire by latching onto Government public housing project funds. Its OK that those properties were then managed in a racist manner, requiring the Government to sue the Trumps to cease and desist their racist practices. Its OK that the Trump klan cheated on all their taxes to dodge taxes. Its OK that criminal bankers were given trillions of dollars as a reward for screwing their customers.

But its unacceptable that blacks are eligible for welfare, because they are the cause of all their own problems.

I wish I could say this was only from the mind of Kanye, but we know these wacko beliefs are widely held because we see this BS here all the time. This ridiculous thinking accounts for a lot of Trump's supporters.

Negro is one of those words that it depends on the context on how you use it whether it's acceptable. In itself, it's just an anachronistic term, like Caucasian or Oriental. It's not always the case, but sometimes it's obvious when people are using it as a slur to demean and degrade others, and most likely those people are using it as a proxy substitute for another N word that's never acceptable to use, regardless of context, by anyone regardless of their racial background.

He continued to run as a democrat in elections throughout the remainder of the 60s, the 70s, and even up to 1982.

His son switched parties in the 90s and he indicated that he was neither a dem nor a republican after Clinton was elected. all the way into the mid-90s....just shortly before his death.

#52 - The key in that citation, Eberly, (IMHO) is this:

"The Huntsville Times political editor John Anderson summarized the impact from the 1968 campaign: "His startling appeal to millions of alienated white voters was not lost on Richard Nixon and other Republican strategists. First Nixon, then Ronald Reagan, and finally George Herbert Walker Bush successfully adopted toned-down versions of Wallace's anti-busing, anti-federal government platform to pry low- and middle-income whites from the Democratic New Deal coalition."

"George Wallace laid the foundation for the dominance of the Republican Party in American society through the manipulation of racial and social issues in the 1960s and 1970s. He was the master teacher, and Richard Nixon and the Republican leadership that followed were his students."

This was the rise of the Southern Strategy. The same strategy that Ken Melman apologized for, years later.

www.washingtonpost.com

I find this need to run from history, the attempt to claim the mantle of "we're not racists, you are!" silly. The Democratic Party was a wretched, racist party when Strom Thurman was a member, or when Wallace was a member. I was a Republican at the end of this time. But the changes and the embrace of the Religious Right, the further intolerance towards "the Other" - whether it was gay, lesbian, or the new "Other" blacks, and interracial marriage - or the intolerance to Science, they GOP drove me out. And I gladly switched to the Democratic Party.

This is the history. This is the reality. It's not up for debate. If the GOP doesn't like their reputation, change. The Democrats clearly were able to do it.

The best rapper in the world doesn't impress me as much as the third violinist in a local orchestra.

Rap requires no dedication or practice. Becoming a real musician takes years of dedication, practice, doing your scales and your drills, learning to read music etc.

Rap merely requires minimal english skills, a microphone, and a computer. Most rappers can't even sing, dance, or play piano. It's all just confidence and swag, which any lazy idiot can have. There's a reason everyone under the age of 35 wants to be a rapper or DJ - because anyone can do it without much work yet they can get rich and famous for it.

Before kanye was a successful rapper he was auditioning for mtv reality shows. He's just a fame whore and he went the rap path because it was the easiest thing he could find and he didn't have any other abilities.

Agree with that. It's a shame that African-Americans' greatest gift to music--jazz--is nowhere as popular as rap, which barely deserves to be called music.

It's funny how old white men are still angry about rap, thirty years after the Beastie Boys made it okay for whites to like that kind of black music.

But they like rock.

Because, you know, it's been fifty years since Zeppelin and the Stones made it okay for whites to like rock and blues; both created by blacks.

The juxtaposition is hilarious.

That's exactly how you feel about Kanye's music, Nullifidian.

What a coincidence!

Sure. There are violent and nonviolent ways to do it.

And that's why they rank higher on accurate reporting than networks like FOX and RT.

He was a producer when he was first on the scene in hiphop, so at the very least he knows how to assemble music and create beats in a way that is catchy.

#77 | Posted by GOnoles92

Computers make that as difficult as assembling a Lego firetruck.

It qualifies as art, but if any dumbass kid can do it, I'm not impressed.

The person who CREATED the thing you're "recombining" is the actual musician.

It's ok to ruin some business if the victims are white.

Nope. Not at all like that. You see, you stupid little Trumpling, in that scenario, THEY were engaged in violent cultural appropriation. They were rightly held to account, admitted their error and closed up shop. Why some would just call that the marketplace at work, eh you capering little altright goblin?

Any dumbass kid can paint a Picasso. There is nothing technically difficult about a Picasso. It is not always about what people can do, it is about what they come up with.

Yeah and if what they come up with is mostly done by a computer or by copying someone else, they don't deserve much praise.

Kanye's "creative genius" crap was always just marketing. Just like trump was called "business genius".

Kanye isn't even close to being the best rapper in the world. He knows that. He's actually a pathetic clown. Taylor Swift can't stop laughing. She's a star, he's a has been.

As an artist, it's okay if people hate your work.
At least the audience had an emotional connection with you.

I can say the emotional connection many people in this thread clearly have with Kayne West is not one I share.
And for that, I consider myself lucky.

Such was my experience here on the DR.

Although I suspect it's primarily because I'm a party traitor.

Yeah, about that:

But it's funny how you elevate the heinousness of your existence to the level of treason!
I've had hangnails more tenacious than you.
