Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, October 05, 2018

"Despite the turbulent, bitter fight surrounding his nomination, my fervent hope is that Brett Kavanaugh will work to lessen the divisions in the Supreme Court so that we have far fewer 5-4 decisions and so that public confidence in our judiciary and our highest court is restored." Then, announcing her decision, she said: "Mr. President, I will vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh."

"Excellent, well-reasoned speech by Collins."

An hour plus of virtue signaling.

With this emphatic "yes", I wouldn't be surprised if Sens. Murkowski and Heitkamp change their votes...Manchin and Flake are both "yes" votes now as well.

"Mr. President, I just gave you the vote you needed to put this --------- on the Supreme Court. When I'm up for reelection next time, I expect EVERYTHING I need"

Sadly, that is how politics has worked for thousands of years, with no end in sight.

In other words, it's somebody else's personal responsibility to end it.

No, what I am literally saying is the Democrats desperate attempts to stop the Kavanaugh nomination at all costs has likely failed.

I am figuratively saying that you don't count.

Democrat Signals Vote to Confirm Kavanaugh: thehill.com

Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), the lone Democrat who will vote for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, was confronted by angry protesters outside his office after announcing his position. Manchin's answers to reporters justifying his position were drowned out by a group of women protesters chanting at him "Look at us!" and "shame!" Manchin looked uncomfortable as he tried to hear reporters' questions over the angry crowd.

Running for reelection in a state President Trump won by double digits, Manchin is considered a vulnerable Democrat.

Trump has endorsed state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R) and has campaigned for him, despite Manchin working with Trump regularly.

The Purple Poser doesn't want to lose his job. During the primaries, the DCCC tanks multiple liberal and progressive congressional candidates to throw their support behind the Purple Posers.

This your Dem party. Purple. Posers. "less evil"?

I think not.

The final vote will be a good barometer of how much evil is in each party.

I think you'll find considerably less in one party than the other. Check back Saturday!

Friend of Ford told FBI she was pressured into altering statement - nypost.com

"A friend of Christine Blasey Ford told the FBI that allies of the college professor, who accused Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her, pressured her to revise her earlier statement that she knew nothing about the alleged incident, according to a report.

Leland Keyser, who Ford has said was present at the house when she was assaulted in 1982, told investigators that retired FBI agent Monica McLean, a friend of Ford's, had urged her to clarify her statement, sources told the Wall Street Journal.

Keyser, a classmate of Ford, originally wrote to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sept. 23 she "does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present."

After the Supreme Court nominee and his accuser testified in front of the committee last week, Keyser wrote a letter to the panel dated Sept. 29 in which she said she did not refute Ford's claim, but "is unable to corroborate it because she has no recollection of the incident in question," according to CNN."

Avenatti pushes back after Collins blasts client's allegations in Senate floor speech - thehill.com

""This outlandish allegation was put forth without any credible supporting evidence and simply parroted public statements of others. That such an allegation can find its way into the Supreme Court confirmation process is a stark reminder about why the presumption of innocence is so ingrained in our American consciousness," Collins said in a Senate floor speech before declaring that she would vote to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court."

@BAYVIKING posted a thread months ago - I couldn't find it again - about how the two parties conspire to cast votes based on optics.

They work together to express support/outrage then behind the scenes make deals for specific Congress Critters to vote for/against based on election times, favors, chits, etc.

It's a scam Snoofy. But I understand how you fall for it.

Conspire?

This is all happening openly.

But I understand how you refuse to see that it's anyone other than Hillary Clinton's fault.

""This outlandish allegation was put forth without any credible supporting evidence and simply parroted public statements of others.""

At least 40 people weren't interviewed. No wonder there isn't any supporting evidence.
