President Donald Trump has moved to immediately release a tranche of former FBI Director James Comey's text messages and declassify 20 pages of a surveillance application that targeted former campaign adviser Carter Page, his latest offensive against a Russia investigation that has ensnared associates and has consumed Trump's attention for much of his presidency.

White House: At the request of a number of committees of Congress, and for reasons of transparency, the President has directed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Justice (including the FBI) to provide for the immediate declassification of the following materials: (1) pages 10-12 and 17-34 of the June 2017 application to the FISA court in the matter of Carter W. Page; (2) all FBI reports of interviews with Bruce G. Ohr prepared in connection with the Russia investigation; and (3) all FBI reports of interviews prepared in connection with all Carter Page FISA applications.

In addition, President Donald J. Trump has directed the Department of Justice (including the FBI) to publicly release all text messages relating to the Russia investigation, without redaction, of James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Bruce Ohr.

Trump is actively intruding on an ongoing Federal Investigation for the benifit of his own Political purposes.

Republicans will look the other way. They have simply walked away from their responsibility to defend America from this madman.

Schiff says he was "previously informed by the FBI and Justice Department that they would consider their release a red line that must not be crossed"

Lawless. He is absolutely lawless. @realDonaldTrump is the subject of an investigation. Using his power to selectively release classified information is an abuse of power. His days of unchecked abuse are numbered. Tick tock. We will just mark this as another exhibit.

"President Trump, in a clear abuse of power, has decided to intervene in a pending law enforcement investigation by ordering the selective release of materials he believes are helpful to his defense team and thinks will advance a false narrative," said House Intelligence Committee ranking member Adam Schiff in a statement.

"With respect to some of these materials, I have been previously informed by the FBI and Justice Department that they would consider their release a red line that must not be crossed as they may compromise sources and methods."

Trump is interfering in the Special Prosecutor's investigation, trying to litigate the matters in the media as he is convinced that what his base perceives is more important than reality or law.

Trump Wants Voters -- and Russia -- to Know What the Russia Investigation Looked Like on August 1, 2017, not September 14, 2018

Depending on how much the various parties put into these texts (I doubt Comey was much of a texter, for example), this will show unbelievable detail on how FBI runs counterintelligence investigations.

But it will also show voters what the investigation looked like before some key evidence came in, such as the communications surrounding the June 9 meeting and whatever the FBI seized from Paul Manafort's home. Andrew McCabe was the last person in a key role on this investigation, and Christopher Wray took over that role on August 1.

Unless there is a bulletproof reason why this information should be released this is an active attempt to obstruct Justice same as it would be if he had critical documents burned to conceal them from investigators.

Wait, what happened to the screams of outrage from the DR Left that documents in the Kavanaugh hearing were kept classified, that transparency was paramount and that only documents that truly contained national security information should remain confidential?

I didn't realize that Comey, Stzrok, McCabe, Page and Ohr were texting Top Secret information, as there are dozens of laws prohibiting just that occurrence.

What I'd like to see declassified is what evidence the FISA warrant against Page uncovered and not just the warrant application itself:

Asha Rangappa @AshaRangappa_

5. We don't know how much of this that the Page FISA in particular picked up, but if Page was in continued contact either with Russia and/or the Trump transition team, then it would shed light on what Russia hoped to gain from this administration, the role of particular players.

6. There is *something* about what this particular FISA obtained -- or the WH is afraid was potentially obtained -- that has it (and people like Nunes, who was on the transition team) freaked out. Only thing that explains why they care only about this piece of the investigation.

The documents kept secret about Kavanaugh prevented people WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY WAS TO VET him from doing their job.

These documents are being released purely to attempt to sway public opinion. If ANY are released then ALL of them should be released with the national security exception.

Spoon feeding pieces of information while withholding others to build a false narrative is unethical at best.

#11 - Really? The article says those folks were texting Top Secret information? I thought the FISA application is and had TOP SECRET on it, mostly due to Sources and Methods. Totally unrelated to what was being texted. Are you conflating things just to obfuscate?

Reading again. Nope. No reference to anything "Top Secret" in any texts.

My. It certainly appears you've made up that entire lying narrative up. Just when I was beginning to think you had some integrity.

Who were those two fools that flagged your post "Newsworthy?" Let's see who the brain-dead followers are. Here they are:

You want transparency? Immediately release all of the following:

Emails, Texts, Calls and any audio or transcripts between Trump or his staff and anyone charged or convicted by Mueller
Trump's financial connections, especially loans, with Russian banks

Then we can talk transparency.

Just in, per @garretthaake: Sen. @MarkWarner, who has read the documents, says of Trump's decision to declassify raw intelligence about his campaign's alleged conspiracy with Russia: "Be careful what you wish for."

I have to say, after all these years, it is truly enjoyable to watch as clueless democrats, who've been terrified their whole adult lives of opening their eyes, for fear of seeing truth they have denied for so long, still clinging to such deep denial.

My best & only advice to those that description fits is, open your eyes as quickly as you can.
