Retired Admiral William "Bill" McRaven, the former head of Special Operations Command, resigned from the Pentagon's Defense Innovation Board last month, just days after issuing a stunning rebuke of President Donald Trump's decision to revoke the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan, the Pentagon confirmed Thursday.

"Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation," McRaven said of Trump's unprecedented use of a presidential authority over the classification system to strike back at one of his prominent critics.

"If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken. The criticism will continue until you become the leader we prayed you would be," he added, also volunteering to have his own clearance revoked in an act of solidarity.

McRaven, who resigned as chancellor of the University of Texas in Austin earlier this year, is widely respected among the tens of thousands of active and retired special operators.

Well my military friends that voted for Trump all question their votes now. Too bad they didn't question them then.

I don't know why it has taken this long for the military people to wise up to the situation. Already after the "I like people who weren't captured" and the Khzir Khan episodes it was abundantly clear that Trump is a full blown clinical psychopath. He he has been proving it with his actions ever since, and the revocation of security clearances episode is just a part of Trump's psychopathic mobster mentality.

Trump should be afraid.

If you alienate enough special forces bad things are bound to happen.

Trump's wee willy is almost invisible now. It can't afford to shrink much further.

GETOFFMED

"Putin will protect his INVESTMENT"

It strikes me that Putin might be starting to REGRET his investment. I would if it was me.

Trump's stupidity, ego and mental instability has blown Putin's "Master Plan" all to smithereens.

It'll be years before Russia finds another patsy like Donald Trump ~ only smarter and more sane.

#9 - Putin will protect Trump by getting him elected, again.

Besides, Russia now has the entire Republican Party under it's thumb.

"Besides, Russia now has the entire Republican Party under it's thumb."

I agree with that part. At the moment, anyway. But that can and probably will change after the midterms when it's time to pay the piper for their cowardice. They'll no longer be useful when that happens.

In fact, Trump himself won't be of much use to Russia either. He's already under attack by incoming from all directions. His presidency, such as it is, hasn't even seen the worst of it yet when Democrats get the power of subpoena.

How useful do you think he'll be to Russia once he's been exposed and no longer has free rein to help them with their expansion? In fact, how useful will he be if he doedn't even finish out his term?

That's the whole plan isn't it. Force him to resign and take his no-account brood with him. Then we'll see if Pence has learned any lesson about what happens to presidents who engage in subversion.
