Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Willie Nelson is supporting Democratic candidate Beto O'Rourke in the Texas Senate race, and now some former fans are no longer singing his praises. The music legend announced on Wednesday that he'd be headlining a Sept. 29 rally in Austin for O'Rourke, and Nelson made a point to mention that it will be the first public concert he has held for a political candidate, according to Austin360.com.

After posting the news of the upcoming rally on his Facebook page, some of Nelson's fans were upset others were glad:"My wife Annie and I have met and spoken with Beto and we share his concern for the direction things are headed," Nelson said in the press release.

"Then there was the guy who said the country fan version of "Bye Felicia!":

"Goodbye Willie, I don't support socialist commies! You're not going to advertise on my FB page either. Like we say in Texas, Now Git!"

But for all the criticism Nelson received for daring to support ― shivers! ― a Democrat, there were supporters who pointed out that the singer has long held liberal viewpoints.

Such as the man who said, "Ah...I love the sound the internets make when right wing nut jobs finally realize that their heroes have liberal views."

If anyone ever didn't know that Willie Nelson was a liberal they must be smoking more weed than Willie Nelson.

Beto O'Rourke | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)

The first minutes Maher gives quotes from different Sens on Ted Cruz and it's hilarious.

John Boehner on Cruz: "Lucifer in the flesh. I've never worked with a more miserable ----------- in my life."

Lindsey Graham: "If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, no one would convict you."

Willie burned a fatty on the White House roof back in Carter's term. That was really cool.

If just the people who voted for Cruz in the primaries, vote for him again in the general election. He'll win the election.

If all the democrats, regardless of who voted for in the primaries, voted for Beto, he'd lose.

Beto needs a miracle to win in Texas.

Willie actually plays better when he's high. He is a Texas icon and we forgive him for being a Democrat, which he has always been. I heard that Snoop quit smoking for a few months, it only took about 60 days for him to come down. Once he landed, he thought it was too strange and broke out his stash. I doubt that Willie will ever have that problem.www.youtube.com

If I were a betting man, I'd be waiting for a report of a mobile DEA base being set up at the concert site.

I've lived in Texas over the years,
Ft.Worth first and then Austin. And when I think of the best people of Texas, Audie Murphy , Willie Nelson and Hank Hill always come to mind.
