Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, September 13, 2018

Last week, the beginning of an explosive corruption trial involving eight members of Baltimore's elite Gun Trace Task Force revealed that a handful of Baltimore cops allegedly kept fake guns in their patrol cars to plant on innocent people -- a failsafe they could use if they happened to shoot an unarmed suspect. Detective Maurice Ward, who's already pleaded guilty to corruption charges, testified that he and his partners were told to carry the replicas and BB guns "in case we accidentally hit somebody or got into a shootout, so we could plant them." The directive allegedly came from the team's sergeant, Wayne Jenkins, the Washington Post reports. Though Ward didn't say whether or not the tactic was ever used, Detective Marcus Taylor -- another cop swept up in the scandal -- was carrying a fake gun almost identical to his service weapon when he was arrested last year, according to the Sun.

The BB gun testimony is particularly disturbing in light of 12-year-old Tamir Rice's death in 2014, the 13-year-old in Baltimore who was shot twice by cops in 2016 after he allegedly sprinted from them with a replica gun in his hand, and the 86 people fatally shot by police in 2015 and 2016 who were spotted carrying toy guns.

No matter where in the world you are, there is a reason why cops are known as Pigs.

This is nothing new. 30 years ago some cops told me about walking around in bars in seedy parts of town. Then the would go into the men's room and often find a cheap handgun stashed in the trash can. This became their throwdown weapon. They though it was hilarious when a Houston cop planted a gun that was found to have come from the police property room. Realistic toy guns weren't around in those days.

"Baltimore Cops Carry Toy Guns to Plant on People They Shoot"

They also gunned down an officer who was about to testify about all their rotten deeds just days before the trial.

Realistic cap guns have been around since at least the 60s. They didn't even have mandated orange safety tips.

I had mine taken away because my parents were afraid police would see me with it and shoot me.

If one is actually fake, it'd be the one on the right. Looks plastic in the picture.

The one on the left is fake. LOL

Just shows how these made in China plastic toys look more real than the real deal.

Every person I have shown this picture to sez the gun on the right is fake.

And these HAVE been used in petty robberies.

That's OK, most of them peel right off. Then you can stick it on your real weapon and really confuse things. Look at that picture: can you tell in a second or two in a dark room where a life depends on it which is real? Even if the orange button was on it?

That ------ looking slide stop makes me think you're lying, Toss. But you could screenshot a pic with the action open and prove me wrong. And include today's Austin American Statesman in the pic as well, just for good measure.

Embrace the regulations. They're for your own safety. Those savages in Canada don't even have this rule, you can buy airsoft rifles that look exactly like ARs.

Baltimore's the most corrupt police department in the country, from what I've gathered. EVeryone knows it, but no one will do anything about it.

Great interview with former Baltimore cop laying it all out: www.youtube.com
