Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, September 12, 2018

Emboldened by the #MeToo movement, McDonald's workers have voted to stage a one-day strike next week at restaurants in 10 cities in hopes of pressuring management to take stronger steps against on-the-job sexual harassment. Organizers say it will be the first multistate strike in the U.S. specifically targeting sexual harassment. ... Among the strike organizers is Tanya Harrell, 22, of New Orleans, who filed a complaint with the EEOC in May alleging that her two managers at a local McDonald's teased her, but otherwise took no action after she told them of sustained verbal and physical harassment by a co-worker. Harrell, who makes $8.15 an hour, said she and many of her colleagues were skeptical of the company's commitment to combating harassment. "They want people to think they care, but they don't care," she said. "They could do a way more better job."

I can't believe I'm typing this, but McDonald's should follow what Starbucks is doing. It only takes one McBird Flu on a bun to stop all sales globally, why is protecting employees from sexual harassment so much harder for that corporation to address?

I guess it is time to build some more machines to flip the product and dip the fries.

They're already in production.

What's needed are death camps to kill all the unemployed people before they riot and revolt.

You don't think this would happen anyway once machines are cheaper than $8.15/hour employees?

By that logic, as machines become cheaper, we should just pay the employees less and less until they make $1/hr, right?

So, I take it Nulli was off werk at his summer job today.

Micky D's must not want to pay the $40 an hour he's demanding.

Duh, it's about sexual harrassment, not wages. Read the article for once.

I think that gets you a 30 day suspension here, or so the evidence would indicate.

Effectively no one is afraid of higher wages. As a nation we push people to get more education and training so that they can earn higher wages. Pretty much every worker strives for higher wages. Please don't pretend that we are afraid of higher wages.
At least some of what worries people, what they may be called afraid of, is the government taking a larger role in determining those wages. Some people feel that governmental involvement between 2 consenting adults isn't appropriate or necessary. Some people are worried that everything the government touches eventually turns out to be more expensive and less beneficial that touted. Some people worry about the unforeseen results of governmental involvement. No worries about federal mandating of higher wages have anything to do with being afraid of the higher wages themselves.
