Russian President Vladimir Putin says there is "nothing criminal" about the men named by UK authorities over the poisoning of ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter.

UK authorities have named the men as Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, thought to be officers of Russia's military intelligence service, the GRU. But Mr Putin said they were civilians and would tell their story soon.

... then you can believe a Canadian. We know what you are up to. I've been to Canada. I know what goes on there. I've seen the giant bio-engineered mind-control beavers that secretly run your "civilization", and what you did to the what where originally ordinary maple trees.

I know what's up.

putin is telling the truth...THEY ARE NOT CRIMINALS. they're individuals conscripted by putin to do this. they were told to do it or their family would be killed. why use a crook when you can utilize a hard working family man?

They might comment soon? Interesting development. Have to wonder if Putin's apparently careful parsing of his words suggests they did in fact poison Mr. Skripal and his daughter, but that they consider it justice, rather than a criminal act.

Like the polonium poisoning case, only a powerful State can execute a crime of this complexity. That means either Russia or UK/US spy agencies hell bent on resurrecting the Cold War.

For all practical purposes the polonium case was solved and Russia did it.

Both Russia and the USA have had access to this nerve agent because Russia hired the USA to decommission the factory which manufactured this stuff.

If Russia did this just before the World Cup it was way beyond stupid. Whether Russia did it or not East-West relations are at an all time low since the Cuban missile crisis, a crisis averted by Russians interested in continuing life on earth.

It would be interesting to understand just how anyone can "spray a door" without killing themselves with this stuff, or bringing undo attention to themselves with elaborate safety gear as imagined in the movie ET.

Did he say it "very strongly"? You have to say things "very strongly" for them to be true.
