A growing number of Chinese companies are adopting a crafty way to evade US President Donald Trump's tariffs: remove the "Made in China" label by shifting production to countries such as Vietnam, Serbia and Mexico.

I declare China the winner in Trump's Trade Wars.

China doesn't care all that much about "made in China" label. They don't care about 'losing their religion'.

I think it is way too early to declare winner or loser in the trade war. Maybe a winner or loser of this year's battle, but certainly not the war.

What I wonder is whether Pres Trump understood that the things mentioned in the cited article would happen, or whether he just thought that the Chinese factories would succumb to his tariffs and move production back to the US.

To ask the same question with different wording --- what is the level of Pres Trump's understanding of the global trade system, how intertwined and entangled it all is, and how one thing affects many other things.

US companies are doing the same. That's the issue with tariffs.

So the Chinese communists "are" being hurt by tariffs. Good. Raise them some more. They can't move everything without causing unemployment and social discontent.

Don't worry about China. It's doing just fine for itself.

#6. No, they're not.

Why do you think they're moving?

But sure, raise them more so that our production can be moved to Mexico to avoid the retaliatory tariffs they throw back at us.

@#4 ... I'll bet china just loves that. ...

The purpose of tariffs should be to help Americans and American companies, not punish China.

The purpose of tariffs is to get votes from people with a 3rd grade knowledge level of economics

It is my understanding that most large Chinese manufacturers are state owned.

Which means it doesn't matter whether the companies operate in China or not to those who are making the decisions.

We are stupid taking an isolationist stance.

Interesting article... not sure how its all going to play out... but it is interesting to see how others see what is going on.in the USA.

Its funny Russia once the center of soviet power a super power in the world now functioning under the thumb of some baby boomer wishing for the good old days and the US is doing the same... meanwhile nations whose fortunes were tied to the superpowers are looking elsewhere to do business rather than put up with the blustery bulldookey..
