Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

US President Donald Trump spooked the Pentagon leadership with a tweet that -- had it been sent -- North Korea would have read as a sign of an imminent US attack, journalist Bob Woodward said in an interview that aired Sunday. Woodward, whose new book "Fear: Trump in the White House" hits book stores on Tuesday, described the incident in the interview with CBS as the most dangerous moment of Trump's nuclear standoff with North Korea. "He drafts a tweet saying 'We are going to pull our dependents from South Korea -- family members of the 28,000 people there,'" Woodward said on "CBS Sunday Morning," referring to families of US troops stationed on the Korean peninsula. "At that moment there was a sense of profound alarm in the Pentagon leadership that, 'My God, one tweet and we have reliable information that the North Koreans are going to read this as 'an attack is imminent.'"

We don't know if that actually happened. I hear weird rumors of war all the time (the latest one is another chemical attack in Syria, which made no sense at all considering what would happen - something to with Idlib or someplace with a Lovecraft-type name).

Also, consider the name of the book. I don't think he was looking for facts, I think he was looking for innuendo to make money off his target audience. Also, the people in the book are all denying those thing ever happened, in every rumor....

With this "president" you can believe the worst rumor and you'll always be right.

It's exactly the sort of thing we expected would happen.

"We don't know if that actually happened"

and yet you are not concerned that it could have happened... that we the people, even right leaning, believe our president capable of such dangerous missteps in the name of his junk size

Rat is a Republican. He will hear what he wants to hear, regardless of any evidence that contradicts his preferred narrative.

During the scare with North Korea when Pres Trump threatened North Korea with "fire and fury the likes of which the world has never seen" there was a lot of talk about going to war with North Korea.

Some of the reporting said that there was no evacuations of families of service people in the Asia-Pacific area, so it did not appear as if the US were preparing to go to war.

This supposed almost-sent tweet of Pres Trump would have changed that dynamic drastically.

Yeah instead of trusting a world-renowned journalist who has been hard on both democrats and republicans in the past, let's assume he's lying and give the benefit of the doubt to a man who tells proven lies every single day.

I agree. Bob Woodward is a pretty equal opportunity guy when it comes to politics. Given his life's work I just can not see him throwing it away with tall tales...
