Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Donald Trump doesn't like to be criticized. Time and time again, he has lashed out at those who dare utter an unkind word about him -- be they members of Congress, the media or even late-night comedians. But now Team Trump apparently has a new demand: Enthusiastically cheer Trump or be banished. That's the lesson that 17-year-old Tyler Linfesty, now known as "plaid shirt guy," found out at Trump's campaign rally last Thursday in Montana. Linfesty, a high school senior, was positioned directly behind Trump during his speech. But, a short time into the speech, a person involved with the rally approached him and stated: "I'm gonna replace you." Had Linfesty been booing? No. Did he heckle Trump? Negative. Did he hold up a sign that mocked Trump? Once again, that's a no. Though he was never given a formal reason, Linfesty believes his "misconduct" that merited ejection was his lack of fanatical devotion to Trump, the beloved headliner.

And even more troubling was that Linfesty was then detained by the United States Secret Service: "Some Secret Service guys escorted me into this backroom area, and they just sat me down for 10 minutes." According to Linfesty, after being held in custody for simply not cheering enough for Trump, he was then released by the Secret Service and told that he should not come back.

The idea that a United States citizen was thrown out of a rally that was headlined by the President, simply for not cheering fanatically enough, and was then held in custody by the Secret Service, should alarm anyone who cherishes freedom of expression. It conjures up rogue nations like North Korea, where political dissent is met with swift government action to silence it.

Exactly what Trump supporters want.

I loved the bizarre facial expressions he kept making. That was awesome. You need to see the video of this. Of course, you won't find the video on CNN.

Took all of 20 seconds.

#5 You posted a link to the same article. It doesn't mention anywhere that he was mocking Trump with with his bizarre facial expressions, over and over. It says "he wasn't cheering loud enough" and then rants about totalitarian states. Can you link me to the video?

It's the same video. You can interpret it however you like.

#7 No, it's chopped to hell. It didn't show at all the facial expressions he was making. That was nothing but incredibly one sided propaganda. And a lot of people wheren't wearing MAGA hats - that's not a dress code or anything. Jesus.

I love how this can be posted with absolutely no evidence of what actually happened, and people just think its true. That is so awesome.

What are you talking about? There's video of him making faces and being approached and replaced.

The only thing that's not surely documented is his being held by the secret service, which is entirely at his word.

Thanks for your glorious input Comrade.

We love how you can continue to deny the truth when it is right there in front of everyone. That so Soviet!

Awesome werk Comrade.

One (1) Russian Ruble is equal to 1.4 U.S. pennies today.

Rather sad.

VLinfesty didn't attend the rally planning to protest Trump. He's simply a young man who wanted to see the President of the United States speak in his home state. And, as fate would have it, he was randomly chosen by the Trump campaign for "VIP status."

"Do not come back."

Is this the same Secret Service organization that modified JFK's head wound prior to autopsy?

If you are that concerned about whom attends you will be checking all identification prior to entry, you un-American sacks of filth.

Can you be more specific? Which words are lies? Or, you mean that his facial expressions in response to Trump were intended to be publicly insulting and critical of Trumps statements?

Also, if you determine that he is lying you aren't exactly a great judge of character, bud. Even I do not see any deception - he is replaced ON LIVE TELEVISION, interrogated by Secret Service and told to "not come back". At least Trump didn't see his reactions or this kid might have been called a traitor and put in danger.

Imo, Linfesty's reactions speak to how the non-political youth of America reacts to the Trump administration policies. Once they hear it and realize what kind of BS republican "values" are they do not want anything to do with their party. In fact, they might organize against Republicans.

Reread that statement and tell me again that Trump supporters aren't snowflakes. Mocking with facial expressions, the horror!

It's concerning that facial expressions - which should be protected as a freedom of expression - are more of an issue to you (and many on the right) than a youth being detained by Secret Service for attending a public rally and making faces at the camera. Or realistically being confused by much of the craziness that was coming out of Trump's mouth at the time.

#24 | Posted by bartimus at 2018-09-11 10:50 AM | Reply

I actually didn't see any mocking. I saw disbelief that the dumbass that's called "President" couldn't say "anonymous" while saying other genuinely stupid things.

It's telling that normal human facial expressions when faced with idiocy get called "mocking" in the case of Trump.
