Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A Louisiana mayor issued a memo last week apparently banning the city's recreation department from purchasing any Nike products. Kenner City Mayor Ben Zahn appeared to declare on Sept. 5, that "under no circumstances" should Nike products or any product with the Nike logo be purchased. ... The memo was issued just two days after Nike announced that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick would be the face of its 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign.

Zahn's office sent the memo to Parks and Recreation Department Director Chad Pitfield on Sept. 5, according to what appears to be a copy of the letter posted to WBRZ.

Local news outlets later obtained the memo which appears to state that "effective immediately," any booster club operating at city recreation facilities must have their purchases approved by Pitfield -- including apparel, shoes, athletic equipment "and/or any athletic product."

Where's pfc. boazotoes© to decry this government dictate?

Of course, this isn't New York or California, so he'll most likely be away without leave on this issue.

Nonsense. This is about taxpayer money being paid to sweatshop-loving corporate SJWs. They can purchase from a non-politicized company and probably get a discount.

#4 I notice you didn't use the words value or efficiency or effectiveness.

First and foremost, the government should be run well. I can see why the cons keep ending up in jail. They just don't get it. Take the job, do the job.

What non sweat shop produced brand does Nulli approve of the government allowing people to buy?

Figures though that the supposed "classical liberal" finds a way to support this, because you know, SJWs.

Why are they spending taxpayer money on brand-name corporate merchandise in the first place? I always buy no-name apparel without corporate logos. It's easy to find.

I've made a point of never buying nikes because of their horrible factory conditions.

You can't claim the same wimp.

I don't recall a single time Nullifidian ever mentioned Nike before this. Ever. Not in all the years I've been on this site. But now it's important to him?

Good for you, Tor. I've done the same thing for that and other reasons, including their snotty pretentiousness and marketing.

Yeah Nulli but I'm sure you are still wearing your Ivanka shoes and Trump ties and your phone was manufactured in an Amish town etc. Etc.

ninelineapparel?

Just like Trump, they don't pay their bills:

Construction companies file liens against Savannah's Nine Line Apparel, building owners
They should name their products "Just White".

They don't pay their bills and they're all white.

No wonder Nazifidian likes them.

It was brought up that the timing shows this has nothing to do with sweatshops. It was brought up that plenty of athletics supply and clothing companies use sweatshops.

You ignored it.

So just to be clear:

You are perfectly okay with a government telling you you can't buy something because they disagree with the company's politics.

Conservatives are such poor bastards they can't even afford to vote with their dollars anymore. Have to resort to this anti-free market! They'll be forced to eat dirt once other brands start alienating them.

People, this isn't about the economics at all, it's because essentially the totality of kids black, white, brown, everyone participating are pro-kneel.

At least we have a name for whom is forced to make these determinations and who actually put them into law.
