Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, September 07, 2018

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has made declarations under oath during his current and past confirmation hearings that are contradicted by documents from his time as a counsel to the president and staff secretary in the George W. Bush White House. Newly released documents have undermined Kavanaugh's declarations to the Senate Judiciary Committee, contradictions that are drawing close scrutiny from many Democrats. Kavanaugh has denied making any misleading or false statements. His role in accessing stolen documents: In 2002, a GOP aide on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Manuel Miranda, stole thousands of documents belonging to the committee's Democratic staff. At the time, Kavanaugh was a White House lawyer working on judicial nominations, which included working alongside Miranda.

Warrantless wiretapping

The nomination of Judge William Pryor

The nomination of Charles Pickering

If true, no wonder the GOP want to hide so much of the paperwork and rush this nomination through.

What concerns me most is that Republicans are not willing to stand up for honesty from a SC nominee? They have lost their morals, ethics and minds. The Republican Party has always been my enemy but never before has it behaved as if there is no such thing as morals and ethics. But they sure as hell do today. And just try to compare their behavior to the Democrats so I can have a good laugh.

BREAKING: Kavanaugh testified he never received any docs that even "appeared to ... have been drafted or prepared by Democratic staff." Well, he got 8 pages of material taken VERBATIM from my files, obviously written by Dem staff, LABELED "not [for] distribution".

If Dems can't stop Kavanaugh's confirmation now, maybe they can lay the groundwork to impeach him later?:

Sen. Patrick Leahy @SenatorLeahy

Judge Kavanaugh answered under oath more than 100 questions on this hacking in 2004 and 2006. His repeated denials that he didn't receive any stolen info and didn't suspect anything "untoward" is SIMPLY NOT CREDIBLE.

Look people, you don;t understand how things work in this country. Right wingers are not subject to the same laws as left wingers. This rule is doubly important when comparing outcomes for black and white people. These facts are as plain as day when it comes to perjury, the right to peaceful protest and the right to vote. That's just how it is.

The irony cannot be ignored, Kavanaugh got Bill Clinton impeached for perjury and today he would assert that Trump can't even be questioned for the same crime. If I ever had an ounce of respect for Republicans I don't now.

That's not what concerns you the most, Danni. What concerns you the most is a conservative being appointed to the SCOTUS. Any other problems you find are merely in the orbit of that primary issue.

After reviewing that email chain, nothing about it makes it 'obviously written by Dem staff'. And the person who LABELED it "not [for] distribution" was the originator of the email Maneul Miranda.

Claiming that Kavanaugh lied about something because he must have known that an email sent to him discussing how Democrats were going to argue certain positions MUST have been written by (and stolen from) Democrats and that the person who sent the email labeled it "For use and not distribution" is still being made with no credible evidence.

I think the guys who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI are guilty of lying to the FBI. They provided their own evidence.
I think that the guy who committed tax and banking fraud is guilty of tax and banking fraud (and whatever other of the 11 charges). A jury of his peers found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
I don't think that 'Team Trump' is guilty of anything, because guilt by association isn't really a thing for people who believe in justice.
If and when evidence is provided that individuals on Team Trump have behaved illegally, I'll judge them accordingly. If I'm not witness to the evidence, I'll trust that a jury of their peers did their duty.

I expect both the lawful and unlawful actors of 'Team Trump' will most likely continue to behave in the manner that they have already exhibited. But Expectation isn't Judgement. It isn't justice to judge members of a group by the actions of some of that group. You judge the actions of individuals (as I stated in the post that you edited part of my comment out of). Those who have behaved unlawfully, I think will probably continue to act unlawfully in the future, unless they prove otherwise. Basically, they lose the benefit of the doubt. That doesn't mean that those who have not acted unlawfully are tarnished by the actions of the unlawful.
Public defenders aren't criminals because they spend a lot of time with criminals.

The Democratic platform mentions none of those things. That is pure propaganda, Comrade. And not even good propaganda because it is not believable, except maybe by rabid fox news cultists.

Congressional Democrats have unveiled their pitch to voters in 2018: They're calling -------- on President Donald Trump's promise to "drain the swamp."

House and Senate Democrats rolled out their campaign platform Monday, taking aim at corruption and pay-to-play politics in Washington under the Trump administration. They're betting THIS [not the manure being spread by Fox News and Russian Propagandists] message will help them win voters in the months leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, when the party hopes to regain control of the House -- and maybe even the Senate.

The plan is called "A Better Deal for Our Democracy" -- a spin on their economic platform, "A Better Deal" -- with proposals to protect and improve voting rights, new ethics laws, and campaign finance reforms, including policies that would make lobbyists' activities more transparent and tighten rules around bribery and fraud convictions.

I mock the hysterics being used in lieu of policy, policy, policy.
The entire Dam mid-term plan is:
1) scream into the microphone
2) hate Trump.
Dems will lose big in November. Bookmark my prediction.

How's that been going so far? Do the Dems keep losing special elections or have they seen a 10 point swing in their favor?

Those pesky facts again, huh?

- ignoring all the death and suffering that it will cause.

If that's what it takes to wake up the population to throw out these corporate lizards masquerading as liberals, so be it.

But we both know, you'll just ------------ then vote for #TheTeam again and again. no thanks.

How many seats in Congress have been flipped for the Dems so far? You mean zero?

November is going to be a bloodbath for Dems. Pelosi and crew are a train wreck.

You'll vote #team, I'm sure. No Thanks. I'll wait for change after the massacre. Bookmark it.

Pretend its your closest loved one that dies from republican policies before the population "wakes up" and make that statement again.

Better yet look that person in the eye and tell them you'd rather have them die than vote for a less than perfect democrat.

"Which policy is going to kill them"

At this point, you have to choose to be ignorant; new coal policies alone will account for one death every 7 hours:

Ok Drama King, I will up you one:

Biofuel/Biomass energy production alone will account for one death worldwide every 20 minutes.

"Biofuel/Biomass energy production alone will account for one death worldwide every 20 minutes."

So you're comparing one change in EPA rules causing 1400 premature deaths annually in the US with ALL the worldwide biofuel/biomass deaths? What a stupid comparison.

Talk about "no discernible point"....

Biofuel is widely supported by republicans. Anything to keep americans from using solar power, which exxon can't control and sell.

Which was the point, they are both stupid.

You're welcome.

"they are both stupid."

One is a worldwide death total for an entire industry.

The other is premature USA deaths based on ONE rule change by the EPA. Those who made the choice believe that one premature death every 7 hours is a good tradeoff.

You're a farkin' idiot for believing the latter isn't significant. And an even bigger moron for trying to make a comparison using two completely different parameters.

Sen Dianne Feinstein @SenFeinstein

Brett Kavanaugh used materials stolen from Democratic senators to advance President Bush's judicial nominees. He was asked about this in 2004, 2006 and this week. His answers were not true.

He's off to the Supreme Court, and nothing will stop it. This is what the 2016 election was all about.

13-year-old with genetic condition defends ObamaCare in Kavanaugh hearings

A 13-year old with a genetic condition called Noonan syndrome testified on Friday against President Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, saying that the U.S. must have justices on the bench that support the Affordable Care Act.

"I am privileged to represent 130 million people with pre-existing conditions today, and I am grateful for the invitation to testify before you," Jackson Corbin told the Senate Judiciary Committee on the fourth day of hearings for Kavanaugh.

Exactly. Well put.

Game, set, match. That battle is over. They won. This should be what 2018 is about, too. People should know that plan has been in the works for decades.

This is why Obama did not get to appoint anyone. All part of the same Plan.

We can still get the consolidation prize.(the House / Senate)

If we can just get America to fricking VOTE. 🗳

Both of our Senators will oppose him but it won't do any good unless there are any John McCains left in the Republican Party.

Unfortunately, I think we just put the last honorable Republican in the ground. 😔

That was a great line, but the government makes decisions about the male body every time a man is put in handcuffs or in prison to keep that man from killing anyone.

If you see abortion as killing (which I don't) then it would make sense to use government force to prevent the mother from killing.

Been working for the government for nearly 30 years, involved in all kinds of cases from Planned Parenthood v Casey to Elian "Drop The Chalupa!" Gonzales.

For some strange reason, the Trumpers and Never Trumpers are perfetly fine with all that...

If any of us had the honor to serve as a Senator would any of us ignore perjury by a potential SC Justice nominee? I don't think any of us would. Speaks loudly about the quality of individuals who serve as Republican Senators today, apparently, every last one of them will ignore perjury. Every Drudge poster is a more honest human being than any Republican Senator. Think about that.
