E.J. Dionne Jr.: Two Labor Days into Donald Trump's presidency, what has happened to the working class? After Election Day 2016, we heard again and again about how Trump had thrilled those who labor and are heavily burdened, particularly those among them who are white. There was nonstop commentary on just how out of touch citizens in the big and prosperous metropolitan areas had become. ... We don't hear so much about the working class anymore. We get way more reporting on "Trump's base," an overlapping but ultimately quite different group, and how its members will stick with him no matter what. ... One reason class is receding in our public debates: The Trump years have, so far at least, done little for wage earners. Indeed, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, real hourly wages overall dropped between July 2017 and July 2018, and they dropped for mid-wage workers, too. This is not at all the "winning" Trump promised.

Only the monumentally stupid ever thought otherwise.

Trump's history in business has consistently shown over and over again that the "worker" doesn't not mean a squirt of p1ss to him. Why anyone thought that when he became president it would be any different is a real head scratcher.

"Trump Doesn't Care About the Working Class that Democrats care about."

FIFY. And yes, it does suck he doesn't care about all working class people. But no President has in decades so why start showing faux outrage now? They care about the people their party cares about. Luckily, I'm one who has benefited from both Obama and Trump and think both have done well to their respective bases and have done pretty bad to anyone else. Well, except I don't like how race relations have gotten so bad during Obama's terms. Other than that, I think the US is doing pretty damn good.

Under modern Republicanism, when you've missed your chance you've missed your chance.

This is a most novel concept of emotions and government. Perfect for any dictator, or any man who aspires to same.

Besides trying to bring back 500 coal jobs, what has Trump done for the working class? Or the Middle Class?

And are you really blaming Obama for race relations getting worse during his terms? Seriously, after voting for Mr. Birther?

I see righties aren't even trying to hold their DOTUS accountable for lying his ass off all campaign season.

Because Obama.

Once you become President you are the President of all Americans. Not just the ones you like and agree with.

Humpy is such a freaking dummy that he is still campaigning even after he won. But, he is only talking to the Deplorables, such as yourself.

Just as you being a Deplorable will be your downfall, Humpy only speaking to his base will be his downfall.

Winter is coming for the GOP.

Racist white people acting out? Cameras finally catching thug cops in the act doing things they've done for decades? I think what happened is that "race relations" reached a turning point where ugly behavior was finally called out openly and displayed for the whole world to see.

"he is bring good jobs back to the usa"

You mean these jobs?

"real hourly wages overall dropped between July 2017 and July 2018."

If those are the good jobs, I'd hate to see the bad ones!

"unemployment is at a longtime low."

Trump claimed record low.

Trump lied.

If you think Trump is bringing jobs back to the USA, I have a package of Trump Steaks, a case of Trump Vodka, and five bankrupt casinos in Atlantic City to sell you.

Oh, Trump cares. He wants to squeeze as much blood out of those turnips he possibly can. For himself and his allies.

Actually, good jobs are not coming back.

And job growth has fallen since Obama left.

But if there is something you think he has done to help, do point it out.

Also, no one remind Snippy that job growth slowed down and wage growth is low even after Trump bankrupted the Feds by giving away a massive tax cut.

Actually, good jobs are not coming back.

I hear they are hiring in the West Virginia coal mines. It's a great opportunity to get your hands on some of that elusive "Beautiful Healthy Clean Coal".
