Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, August 28, 2018

Americans' consumer confidence rose in August to the highest level in nearly 18 years as their assessment of current conditions improved further and their expectations about the future rebounded. The Conference Board reported Tuesday that its consumer confidence index rose to 133.4 in August, up from a reading 127.9 in July. It was the highest reading since confidence stood at 135.8 in October 2000.

Reminds me of 2006 - 2008 when you couldn't turn around without some "conservative" asshat patting themselves on the back and quoting home ownership numbers

How did that turn out?

The Obama economy with it's historically low unemployment rate is the cause.

#3 what?

The numbers I've seen show a horrible economy with like warm stock markets, barely breathing consumer confidence and unemployment numbers about to have a massive coronary.

Then on November 7, 2016 they miraculously shot up to previously unassailable heights because people and businesses were so stoked that our Lord and Savior Donaldus Trump was elected and was going to uplift all the down trodden, forgotten people across this dump of a land over run by Mexicans, criminals (aka black people) and "liberals" all acting under cahoots with Obama, Hillary and George Soros to enact Bill Ayer's master plan to take over Texas then turn the US over to the Illuminati run UN for gun confiscation, mandatory castration and internment camps where we WILL learn to love kale, recycling and knitting.

A significant portion of gains in every economic measure currently bragged about by Trump is thanks to Obama.

Glad to see you finally found a nut, oh blind bushy tailed one.

Funny how a large portion of this country just FEELS better about stuff when there's a white guy in the white house instead of a black guy, even if they white guy is screwing them and their kids.

Just like businessmen FEEL better about the economy when there's a corrupt capitalist in charge who will let them pollute and scam like the good ol days.

Capitalism's Ponzi scheme, run by the .01%, is unsustainable. The internet and social media is making this apparent to more and more of the otherwise divided 99%. Liberals and conservatives of the 99% speak entirely different languages but as the physical world round them crumbles the real problems will become more apparent. The planet's resources and warming trends are inescapable. Trump is in denial and having another tantrum. Only honest information can prevent catastrophe during this impending transition period. But the ruling elite will not go down without a fight.

True.

Also funny that so many Americans are too shortsighted to see the impending crash.

Speaks to your racist worldview.

I see it as the large portion (a majority) felt better that a Republican view for the economy was brought in as opposed to an economy wrecking liberal one.

" a Republican view for the economy was brought in as opposed to an economy wrecking liberal one."

Remind us of the economy Dubya inherited, versus the one he handed off.

Then remind us of the economy Obama inherited, versus the one he handed off.

that handing off thing is only good for a short amount of time and you know it.

Well, after one year (Thanks, Obama), the Dow is flat, and the S&P is only up 2%.

Awesome, at least Americans are consistent. When good news comes out, one party has to tout it and the other has to bash it by any means necessary. That same news comes out when the opposite party is in power and the whole thing is reversed. America, land of consistency. That's about all we have going for us.

Why? What is your economic basis for the idea that Obama could turn around the largest recession in 100 years ($16 trillion in losses) within 12 months of inheriting it?

...This ought to be good...

The events of 09/11/2001 didn't trash the economy.

George W. Bush trashed the economy in 2008, 7 years later.

President Obama took that devastated economy and started America on the path to recovery.
