Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Omarosa Manigault Newman, a reality star hired as a White House staffer by Donald Trump despite her lack of relevant job qualifications, appeared on Meet the Press Sunday and played a secret recording she made in the Situation Room of her firing by chief of staff John Kelly. Associated Press reviewed the recording of Kelly and Manigault Newman, which she claimed was one of many she had surreptitiously recorded. In the recording with Kelly, he offers a veiled threat if she doesn't stay quiet: "If we make this a friendly departure ... you can look at your time here in the White House as a year of service to the nation and then you can go on without any type of difficulty in the future relative to your reputation. There are some serious legal issues that have been violated and you're open to some legal action that we hope, we think we can control."

Clearly Omarosa made recordings of conversations in the Whitehouse without the knowledge of those present.
What other conversations were recorded and were any of them classified.

I expect the FBI to visit Oma's place soon.

@#2 ... Clearly Omarosa made recordings of conversations in the Whitehouse ...

The recording was said to have been made in the White House Situation Room.

www.washingtonpost.com

...Omarosa Manigault Newman, the fired White House aide seeking publicity for her new memoir about her time in the Trump administration, said in an interview Sunday that the way Chief of Staff John F. Kelly dismissed her involved a "threat" and played an audio recording of Kelly that she said she made in the Situation Room....

This comment reflects my view pretty well...

(from the WaPo article cited above)

...Manigault Newman's purported recordings inside the White House -- especially the Situation Room, which is supposed to be one of the most secure locations on Earth -- represents a serious breach of security protocol, said Ned Price, a former National Security Council spokesman for the Obama administration....

Price said. ".... The fact that she was recording a conversation in [the Situation Room] really raises alarm bells in the minds of people who have worked in that room."

Price said cellphones and recording devices are not allowed in the room, though aides are not screened before entering.

"It's a system based on honor and integrity, and there's a sign outside that says, ‘Place your phones here,' " he said.

This all leads me to believe that she viewed her stint in the White House as little more than an information-gathering exercise for her eventual book.

Speaking of birth certificates has anyone seen Trump's. How do we know he wasn't born in Russia?

Yet another of The Dotards best people. And he runs his business in the sane manner? No wonder he went BK so many times. (Well, that and the leverage involved.)

Seriously: when will this fool finish running through all the hacks and dullards and actually hire someone smart, AND listen to them?

Pres Trump cannot escape culpability for this one. He knew exactly what she was like.

As a Democrat, who cares about my country and who despises Donald Trump, I don't care what Amarosa recorded. She is certainly no better than those she is not trying to trash. The entire Trump administration is just a bunch of back stabbing, cut throat, criminals.

OK, now this is getting odd...

Omarosa Manigault Newman reveals recording she made of Trump day after she was fired
www.nbcnews.com

...Omarosa Manigault Newman, the former "Apprentice" contestant who became a White House aide, has provided an audio recording that she says is from 2017 and on which President Donald Trump expresses surprise that she'd been fired from his administration....

The tape, which was played exclusively Monday on "Today" and sparked a harsh attack from Trump on Newman, just hours later, appears to show the president having no idea that Newman had been dismissed by his chief of staff, John Kelly.

"Omarosa? Omarosa what's going on? I just saw on the news that you're thinking about leaving? What happened?" Trump is heard saying on the tape, which Newman said was made one day after her termination in December 2017 when Trump called her.

Newman responds, "General Kelly -- General Kelly came to me and said that you guys wanted me to leave."

"No ... I, I, Nobody even told me about it," Trump replies.

Newman then says, "Wow," before Trump reiterates his shock.

"You know they run a big operation, but I didn't know it," Trump is heard saying on the tape. "I didn't know that. Goddamn it. I don't love you leaving at all."

NBC News does not know what was said before or after that exchange....

I suspect we have not heard the end of this new White House reality show....

"Interesting that Trump didn't know about her firing."

This is the evidence his supporters needed to confirm that the deep state goes all the way up through the chief of staff. The only person in the entirety of government that we can really trust is President Trump. If I Where the suspicious type this whole scandal would seem staged between Omarosa and the President.

@#22 ... this whole scandal would seem staged between Omarosa and the President. ...

Given that there are two TV reality show people involved, that same thought has crossed my mind as well. I was surprised when it did, but there it was.

The only thing I cannot figure out is why Pres Trump would engage in such foolishness? To take attention away from all things Russia?

Odd, at best. I don't have the "at worst" word yet...

Perfectly plausible to see it that way. And you didn't even include their relationship during the Apprentice. Who the heck knows the reality (no pun) of the dynamics of that relationship or what grew from it, other than them or less than a handful maybe? IOW's, someone didn't like someone for some reason. That's a nice way to say it, maybe.

I'll say this. If she did actually plan & play all this out, & I believe it's very possible, that is some Seriously devious, gangsta, Medieval S***.

Angry WH Staffer @AngrierWHStaff

I really can't imagine how miserable one must be as a 73-year-old man who was purportedly running a country, but really spent all of his time airing grievances on social media, and seeking validation from cable news personalities.

Donald Trump blasting someone on Twitter? What else is new? As time goes on, and we see this cycle repeat itself over and over again, The Donald is revealed for what he really is: a petty, pathetic, thin-skinned little man hiding behind the presidential seal. It reminds me of the scene in the Wizard of Oz when all too human man behind the curtain is revealed. Donald Trump isn't great. It's all a façade. He is a master of PR who can't stop tweeting out how small-minded and vindicate he really is.

Trump strikes me as someone who is more into quantity than quality. Also more of a taker than a giver. Probably not for nothing Melania doesn't share is bedroom in the WH.

Personally I think Amarosa and Trump are both supremacist elites. It just so happens that one is white and the other is black. He was her white "token" in her black world. She was his black "token" in his white world. They sucked off each other like succubus and incubus.

I would tape my conversations if I was in the Republican white house as well. When you are working for people who see no moral issue with lying, you have to protect yourself. You know that they are going to throw you to the wolves later. So, if you can pull out a tape that proves it, then you can fight back when the Republicans you worked for inevitably lie about you.

Agreed! I just don't agree with the tell-all book. It makes her look like she was planning to write a book the whole time. I have no doubt that the workplace was as toxic as she claims but she should have quit and moved on to greener pasture.

What I find so, enjoyably, ironic about this whole thing is Washington is finally being portrayed, for everyone to see, & for what it has really been for several decades; a big show.
