Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The two cousins had planned to settle in for a night of playing video games, but first, the boys, 15 and 17, wanted to walk to the nearby gas station for something to eat. The boys were standing on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Independence Boulevard in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood when they heard gunfire, police said. They were about a block from the gas station at Roosevelt Road and Independence. The 15-year-old was grazed in the head, and the 17-year-old was shot in the abdomen. They took themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital where they were both in good condition. "Chicago is a scary place to be," Hines said. "Even I'm scared to walk to the corner store." The boys were among 20 people shot Friday and early Saturday, one of them fatally. Three other juveniles were wounded in attacks in the city, including a 12-year-old girl.

While Chicago's issue are significant it violent crime per capita is still only in 24th place. 23 other cities have worse conditions. But then again the narrative in Chicago is only the right's residual ODS.

From the summary, I'd say poor gun handling skills and even worse marksmanship had a lot to do with it.

Hey, I can cherrypick links as well, and mine is from 2017:

Deadliest Cities in the US: Chicago #10.

Another fun fact, all of the cities in the top ten are run by Democrats.

These shootings, and all the others, are a small price to pay for right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

What was the score, was it like Good Guys 10, Bad Guys 10? Isn't that what really matters? There are good people on both sides of the barrel.

Hey, I can cherrypick links...

We are all well aware of you ability to cherry-pick, it's what you do. I simply tried to find the most current stat. Even when looking at your link I have to ask, where are the articles posted ad nauseam on St.Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Kansas City, and Newark? All with higher rates of violent crimes. Chicago is a right talking point because Obama and the gun restrictions. That is all.

Another fun fact, all of the cities in the top ten are run by Democrats.

Another fun fact. Most all of the largest, most economically viable cities are left-leaning. Even in Texas Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio are all left-leaning. There is nothing "newsworthy" about your post.

And please extrapolate how you connect violent crime stats with political idealogy.

"We are all well aware of you ability to cherry-pick, it's what you do."

It's all he can do and most of the time he doesn't even do it correctly.

Could be something as simple as the black race is more violent and is more of a Democratic stronghold than the other races.

Or it could be just that you wish that was the reason so you could pretend you weren't a bigoted -------.

Did any of the shooters in Chicago get a paid vacation and a commendation afterwards? If the shooters are known do the police NOT arrest any of them?

The police have killed 720 people this year as of July 31.

Why doesn't that bother you?

I know Texas has seen a rise in democrat voter's & may be left-leaning in that respect. But, until I see the state in blue on an election night Texas will remain about as evenly split as it gets when it comes to leaning a particular way, IMO.

Houston, in particular. Now Austin..... oh, my poor wonderful Austin, TX. Such a vastly different place than just 20 years ago & not just politically. But, when I read this past week that a measure was put forward in the city council to rename the city.... oh, I just have too many adjectives to express my thoughts on it.

The neo-liberal invasion & takeover of Austin, TX is officially completed. I don't believe for a second that the renaming will ever be successful, but just the fact it was even brought up is.... again, too many descriptive words bouncing thru my mind to attempt saying anything coherent.

And, all in the name of white-washing & rewriting history.

We have had plenty of those, Chicago is just more current at the moment.

Chicago is a right talking point because Obama and the gun restrictions. That is all.

You are the one who stampeded to ODS in #1, look within to see why you are freaked out about it and connected it to political ideology.

Isn't it cute that FakeLawyer/Joe Dirt is all "concern troll" about black people getting shot in Chicago. No one is buying it hilljack.

Chicago is a right talking point because Obama and the gun restrictions.

Chicago's (and Illinois') "gun restrictions" have been litigated virtually out of existence by the same imbecilic conservatives who seem to take delight in the city's violence.
