President Donald Trump's proposed Space Force would be the first new branch of the U.S. military in more than 70 years -- if Congress approves and if it can get off the ground.

No healthcare for you, we have to police the infinite reaches of outer space. I listened to Mike Pence this morning pitching this idea. Mike Pence doesn't even believe in science.

If we actually started to shoot at each others satellites, it would turn the Earth's useful orbits into cascading debris fields that would deny us satellite capability for about 500 years. The average satellite breaks up into 5,000 pieces when killed, each piece with with an average velocity of 17,000 miles per hour. Of course, that's if you're lucky.

Because without health care our arms will fall off?

This "Space Force" is just another attempt at at changing the subject and more (illogical) contradictions from the party "fiscal responsibility" and "small government".

These idiots don't even know how our government works.

WE already have a space command. www.afspc.af.mil

We have multiple space commands and overlapping projects. That's the argument for unifying under a single space branch in the first place.

Then unify it under the already existing Space Command.

Duh.

What kind of sidearm should the space force astronauts wear? 45 magnum on the ISS what could possibly go wrong?

One of the most devastating space weapons is really just a bag of sand. Sent up into the proper orbit With a small charge to disperse it creates a cloud of sand moving fast enough to shred anything in its path.

I like how the Space Force talks began under the Obama administration as an offshoot of the Air Force; but then trump was elected, has made it "biglier" and reduced it to a branding exercise, and now his inbred supporters are lapping it up like they do all the ---- that spews from his mouth.

This is why 'whataboutisms' are, often, relevant & not the simple deflections some would like everyone to believe.

Bush II proposed this 1st, followed by Obama, and now Trump.

Look out, here comes the deflection!

I recall very well when Bush II also called for a manned mission to Mars, which was ridiculed & laughed at by the left. But, of course when the 'sacred one', Obama, suggested the very same thing the ridicule of the left turned to praise for such a bold quest.

Some things never change & sometimes they do. Hopefully one day they do.

"I recall very well when Bush II also called for a manned mission to Mars, which was ridiculed & laughed at by the left."

Well, at least this liberal has never laughed at putting humans into space. Unifying humanity for a common inspirational goal seems like a good thing to me and will generate a lot of useful tech for ground based problems.

On the other hand militarizing space is really stupid. As above, we won't be able to access space for generations if we get into a firefight in orbit.

You MAGA guys will make sure we are back to loran, vor, compass, clock, and sextant for navigation. On the plus side Fox news will be that much harder to tune in to.

Exploration of space is a noble idea. A Space force on the other hand is just to inflate someone's millimeter peter. HUGE difference.

Yeah, I specifically recall that you wanted to exile your political opponents there, but their was this big debate as to whether or not that would interfere with Alternative 3, the elites plan to escape the Earth for Mars after they rape our planet to death with pollution and war and stuff.

So what was the answer? Because you just said you "supported Bush on Mars", so I'm really curious.

To anyone that has made mention of it, I am 100% against militarizing space. Unfortunately, it appears to be playing out much like the Cold War only with more players involved.

Personally, I have a feeling we, and other countries like China & Russia, have been doing quite a bit more in space than the public is aware of. Call me crazy, but the US government being the only major government (there may be 1 other), that has not opened the books & admit to what they know on the topic of UFO's or UAP's, just doesn't instill confidence in me.

Sorta like the US government's official stance, for years, on marijuana holding no medicinal properties. Never mind the propaganda put out on the plant that still resides as truth in the minds of many in my mother's generation. Lies on top of lies on top of a big steaming turd.

The most likely end result of a space war is the destruction of all the communication satellites. GPS and other satellite dependant tech would be degraded or gone. A lot of our modern convenience depends on space being a place of peace and scientific freedom

#41 | Posted by hatter5183 at 2018-08-11 10:01 PM | Reply

Feel free to call me really crazy on this one, but it's how I think & what makes the most sense for me.

I believe that the US, China, Russia, and Japan have been working in space together and in cooperation, and on things unknown to the public, for many years. Obviously the US & Soviet Union would be the 1st that paired up, with others joining in later. Now, to what end this secret alliance has been working toward or any specific agenda, I could only hope it includes benefiting all of the human race.

This is maybe why I don't get all worked up over the evil Russian's or Trump starting WW III. The way I see the penis waiving between major powers today is yet another perfect and very simple way to distract the entire world from something entirely. I base some of these beliefs solely on history & how government's have operated throughout it.

That, and I have a very very hard time believing processor chips, for example, are among the biggest technological advances we've made, in that very short span of time where we went, to use a metaphor, from analog to digital, and since that time.
