Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, August 09, 2018

A Fox News correspondent has abruptly resigned from his job amid reports that Fox staff members are tired of seeing the network transformed into a pro-Trump propaganda channel. The Wrap reports that Fox News foreign correspondent Conor Powell stepped down this week after nine years reporting for the network. "After nearly 9 years, I have decided to resign from Fox News," Powell announced on his Facebook page. "Those of you who have spoken to me in recent months, you will understand why I am leaving FNC."

At one point a few years back, I used to watch Fox News (the news segments, not the commentary/opinion shows). Indeed, during the Boston Marathon bombing, Fox News and NBC News had the best coverage of all the news networks I watched. They were the only two that didn't buy into the minute-by-minute hype like, e.g., CNN did.

Nowadays, I have trouble watching the news segments on Fox News. It is getting more and more difficult to distinguish them from the opinion/commentary shows.

Fox News is GOP News exactly as Roger Ailes sold it to Richard Nixon 50 years ago. They just didn't have the funding then, finally he found Rupert Murdoch to make his dream a reality and the nation has been misled ever since. There is an audience who loves sensationalism, it used to be limited to tabloids but Fox News brought it to television and the morons who buy tabloids have had their channel to bring the conspiracy theories, etc. to them without the need to actually buy tabloids. It's totally garbage and no thinking person pays any attention to it.

I've been calling it The New Pravda since the late 90's, so figuring this out now is about 20 years too late.

Thanks, Ronnie!

Good for him, but it shouldn't have taken him 9 years to figure out he was working for a propaganda machine for the politically insane.

I am with you on that. The actual NEWS on Fox used to be very good and not particularly partisan either way but it has slid more and more into a slanted opinionated broadcast on too many segments.

So I guess he's getting out of the news business altogether then? Because every other outlet is slanted the other way.

Yeah slanted towards REALITY. The opposite of fox.

If that were true then who is more likely to be "fake", Fixed Meows (what Siri said) or everyone else?

Fox news has never been slanted, it's just straight up propaganda. Always was.

That might be the direction that makes him more comfortable: "Conor Powell was "uncomfortable with the direction of the news organization in recent months," a person familiar with the matter told TheWrap."

Boaz, here's a pro-tip for free.

If you find yourself thinking that everyone else is against you and is wrong, stop and seriously consider whatever it is you're thinking about.

Because it means you're likely, as in 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
99999999999% likely, the one who is in the wrong.

Chris Wallace and Shep Smith ain't that bad. Especially lately with everything getting as crazy as it is with Trump (and Hannity, for that matter).

Good for him. All the cable news shows are propaganda for "their" side, maybe this kid and others like him can help inject some much needed integrity back into journalism.

FoxNews is just 'equal time' to offset the dem/lib leaning networks of ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN - one conservative vs five liberals; sounds fair to me.

My ol' grandpappy put it more succinctly. He always told me ~~

Horse crap. MSGT would defend the most dishonest liars no matter what they lie about because he is entirely owned by the right wing propaganda. Fool is an understatement. Dishonesty is obvious.

"Good for him. All the cable news shows are propaganda for "their" side,"

B.S. Even MSNBC does not resort to lying, even in their opinion related shows. Fox News is a dishonest network, actually pitched to Richard Nixon as GOP TV but they didn't have the funding until Roger Ailes found Rupert Murdoch who is one of the most dishonest human beings on the planet. They have successfully sold us on several wars, how many will it take before stupid people like you wake up? Trillions of dollars, thousands of American lives and 1,000,000 Iraqi lives, isn't that enough to cause you to doubt Fox News? If not you are seriously mentally ill.

#20 Ever watch Madcow or morning Joe? And btw, I thought you wouldn't be caught dead watching Fox News? How do you know so much about it? If you can't get two sides of a story and decide which side you agree with that is totally pathetic but predictable.

For sheer absurdity, the only show on FoxNews I sometimes enjoy is Hannity. Watching him is like watching a skanky stripper performing in an old folks home.

Propaganda is not the equivalent of an opposing opinion. It is nonsense they sell to right wing Republicans who don't require actual facts, they are happy with Kellyanne Conway's "alternative facts."

Easy, but the one about Fox News was accurate, and one you made up because you just had to, ya cute little snowflake, was dumb.

#27 | Posted by YAV at 2018-08-10 04:53 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

I've always found this topic, which has been ongoing for 20 years or so, entirely laughable. As I've stated, I no longer watch any 'news' network.

But, it has always seemed superficial to me how the left has always accused FOXNEWS of being a right wing arm for propaganda, yet never equate, for example, MSNBC as being the same for left wing propaganda.

From Chris Matthew's 'tingly' ------ on national TV to Maddow's crocodile tears, the network has always and openly, backed democrats & trashed republicans. And, rarely do any of the networks stray from their obvious biases, if ever at all.

Anyone who believes everything they are told by anyone involved with any of these networks, only need look in a mirror to see what a true sheep looks like.

United States population: 325.7 million (2017) ----- FoxNews viewership: Fox News averages 1.99 million viewers.

Danni, and all you others [lefties]: Since you 'rule' with the majority of the left leaning media in the US: Why the hell are you so worried and upset [and you are] about a less than 2 million viewers??? Guess it is just that fact they you are control freaks and wish you could go back to the days that you had 100% control of the news that the US public received.

Makes one wonder [about your mindset/sanity], does it not......................

I think everyone figured as much but now we know exactly where his talking points come from.
