Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, August 07, 2018

A multimillion-dollar lawsuit has been quietly making its way through the New York State court system over the last three years, pitting a private equity manager named David Storper against his former boss: Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. The pair worked side by side for more than a decade, eventually at the firm, WL Ross & Co. -- where, Storper later alleged, Ross stole his interests in a private equity fund, transferred them to himself, then tried to cover it up with bogus paperwork.

The report says Forbes spoke with 21 people who know Ross and found claims that he wrongly took millions of dollars for himself on multiple occasions. The publication estimated that if all the allegations were true, then Ross had bilked associates out of more than $120 million. Alexander pulled no punches in summarizing his findings, concluding: "If even half of the accusations are legitimate, the current United States secretary of commerce could rank among the biggest grifters in American history."

This is who Republicans support and who they choose to speak for them. This is what the Republican party has become.

And yes, Republicans, you definitely did build that.

To republicans and con men like trump, rich dudes who screw others out of money are seen as admirable capitalists. They rationalize it by saying "you'd do it too if you had the chance."

#8 My esteemed mentor said the same thing to me, but with regard to white vs black subjugation. (He was black) He told me if the tables were turned, he'd take advantage of every white person he could. "Wouldn't you?", he said. I said, "No. My mother used to cry every time MLK came on TV showing old photoreels of him and his moving speeches. It's something you don't forget."

It was one of the few times I got the better of him, but like all mentors, he was probably testing me to see if I was a closet white supremacist. In Texas, having orange hair, pink skin, and a slight drawl with a dip can circle in the back left pocket of your Levi's 501s, I don't blame him. But we'd just gotten to know each other. I told him if I were black, I'd just like to be treated as equally as the white dude. His last name was Jewish, so he said he'd gotten plenty of jobs in the Northeast on his Surname, alone. Which was another inside joke.

Not only is Ross like Trump in loving to inflate his wealth and ripping off his partners, he has a fondness for Russian funds illegally being funneled into the United States. Ross was one of the co-founders of the Bank of Cyprus, which despite the name existed as little more than a mail drop for most of its life. A mail drop ... and a place where oligarch dollars leaving former Soviet Republics could get a quick whitewash courtesy of an instant LLC and an account at Ross' bank before heading for real estate "purchases" in the United States.

Dmitry Rybolovlev, the guy who gave Trump $100 million to supposedly buy a $40 million property in Florida, was Wilbur Ross' partner at The Bank of Cyprus.

Ross' bank was also very handy for Trump campaign chair, and current guest of the court, Paul Manafort. Manafort used Ross' bank for much of the funds that were funneled into his accounts from Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska under the pretense that he was giving Manafort a "loan."

Damn it Ross, I was using 'grifter' to describe the Mangotard. Guess I'll have to use 'snake oil salesman' instead now.

Jesus Christ, every last one of them is a criminal. Scratch any of Combover Quisling's cabinet and family members and they ALL bleed graft and corruption. Well, except for Rick Perry, he's just too stupid to be a criminal, he can barely remember to zip his fly after he pees.

The Energy Department was one of three departments that Perry said (during the debates) that he wanted to do away with ~ and the only reason he was appointed by Trump to head that department.

Perry hasn't been making any headlines since he was appointed but I wouldn't cross him off the list yet. The Trump administration has been rather busy lately trying to keep it's head attached to it's shoulders, thanks to the Mueller investigation.

So far the lowlife Ross has kept these proceedings secret by buying off the plaintiffs with those ill gotten gains.

Ross fits right in Trump's wheelhouse.

If Ross was vetted, it wasn't for his strength of character. Most likely he was appointed because he had no good character at all. (a prerequisite for employment in a Trump administration).

there was, in fact, many discrepancies in ross's vetting..lies and omissions, ignored of course. ross and the cyprus bank will be a focal point of muellers final report i'd bet

I'm sure Trump goes through the motions but I'm highly skeptical of exactly what he's looking for.

It certainly isn't honesty. It's more likely something he can hold over their head if they don't do as they're told.

I'm looking forward to hearing Ross' name come up in the investigation.

"Perry hasn't been making any headlines since he was appointed but I wouldn't cross him off the list yet."

He is probably keeping a low profile. Perry has been in government long enough to know if you keep your head down you can keep sucking off the gubmint teat a lot longer.

I thought maybe Trump was saving him to create a false shortage of fuel ~ maybe put us back on odd and even again or 2 gallon limits.

You know, if somebody is planning a coup one of the first things they have to do is immobolize the population.
