Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Evangelist Billy Graham can be heard defending anti-Jewish conspiracies and admitting Hitler was right about some things to President Richard Nixon on a newly-released portion of an infamous Oval Office tape. The long-censored passage of the 1972 conversation confirms certain comments reported hitherto only second-hand, and adds to the historical record shocking new words and beliefs of the evangelist, whose legacy had already been damaged by the earlier, redacted releases of the tape.

Graham told Nixon, "You see, Hitler of course ... they (Jews) had a stranglehold on Germany. On the banking of Germany, on everything in Germany. And the media. They had the whole thing, you see. But he went about it wrong."

Graham referred to some Jews as "the Synagogue of Satan."

So Hitler had good ideas. He just went about it wrong. And Nixon agreed!

Nice.

So now wonder the GOP'ers are the way they are...this is their philosophy about non-whites.

This is what they discuss behind doors, Trump just doesn't know enough to keep his mouth shut

to keep the secret, and so he goes on Tweeter....Trump doesn't mince words. He ALWAYS says exactly what

he's thinking......

Graham was just another soft spoken charlatan.

Reports of these comments have been around forever, interesting to have them confirmed yet again.

"After the release of the tapes, Graham was horrified, according to Grant Wacker, a Duke Divinity School professor who wrote a book about Graham. He publicly apologized and asked for forgiveness from Jewish leaders in the country.

"He did not spin it. He did not try to justify it," Wacker told NPR. "He said repeatedly he had done wrong, and he was sorry."

''I don't ever recall having those feelings about any group, especially the Jews, and I certainly do not have them now,'' Graham said in 2002 when the tape was released.

''My remarks did not reflect my love for the Jewish people. I humbly ask the Jewish community to reflect on my actions on behalf of Jews over the years that contradict my words in the Oval Office that day.''

Graham was a product of his time, an old school conservative, though. But he also said things that didn't go over well with some conservatives, like:

I think that the Bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin, but the Bible also teaches that pride is a sin, jealousy is a sin, and hate is a sin, evil thoughts are a sin. So I don't think that homosexuality should be chosen as the overwhelming sin that we are doing today.

And he later said he regretted being the "President's Preacher" to several Presidents; getting religion too close to politics.

What a great example of why I have extreme disdain for Christian "leaders" -- except for the one whose words are all in red in The Bible.

Even the "good" ones are utter ---------.

Like father, like son:

Franklin Graham Thinks Putin's Stance On Gay Rights Is Better Than Obama's

Evangelist Franklin Graham is praising Russian President Vladimir Putin for his aggressive crackdown on homosexuality, saying his record on protecting children from gay "propaganda" is better than President Obama's "shameful" embrace of gay rights.

Graham, who now heads the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association started by his famous father, praises Putin in the March issue of the group's Decision magazine for signing a bill that imposes fines for adults who promote "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations to minors."

Franklin Graham recently traveled to Russia, where he met with leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church. He also met with President Vladimir Putin and preached the Gospel in several Orthodox and Baptist churches.

"Not only did I have a chance to meet with Russian church leaders, but also with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was warm and gracious and took a significant amount of time to sit and discuss issues with me, including the persecution of churches throughout the Middle East. Although our governments may have differences, I found that the people of Russia were welcoming and desire a good relationship with the United States." -Franklin Graham

The funny thing is, once you get out the US, these things are stated openly as undisputed facts. This statement:

"they (Jews) had a stranglehold on Germany. On the banking of Germany, on everything in Germany. And the media. They had the whole thing, you see."

is pretty much supported by the actual employment and economic stats of German from WWI until WWII. If you go to Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, anywhere in Asia, and most of Europe, you will hear the same sentiments stated over and over again. I think the only countries where this is outright dismissed at anti-Semetic are the US, UK, and Israel. If the Jews want to reform their image in fact of the statistics which point to this being true, they need to focus on these groups not being a cause of the problem for the German population. The Jews did not control the government which agreed to give up huge swathes of land. The did not control the government which agreed to unaffordable reparations. These arguments they can win. Arguing that the stats that exist don't exist just feeds conspiracy theories which anti-Semetic groups are now applying to the US (Jewish control over law, media, government).

Nixon believed that a Jewish conspiracy secretly controlled the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Seriously. I think I can find copy of that on tape for you on youtube. I'll check.

Do you know how Henry Ford died? He had a stroke while watching a newsreel of the death camps discovered in Nazi Germany. Because he knew he was partly responsible for that.

"Nixon believed that a Jewish conspiracy secretly controlled the California Department of Motor Vehicles."

Can't wait to see the parallels history paints between Nixon and Trump.

"Nixon went to China, Trump went to Chinese client state North Korea."

That kind of thing.

I would classify this as 'fake news' based on Max Wallace's book. There are numerous errors in his account. For instance, the film is described as

"In the spring of 1946, the American government released a public information film called "Death Stations" documenting the liberation of Nazi concentration camps by U.S. troops a year earlier.
......
Most of the assembled Ford executives sat rapt as the first gruesome images of the Majdanek concentration camp flickered on the screen."

Only problem is that US troops did not liberate Majdanek. During this time, the US still generally believed that the US forces did all the heavy lifting when in reality, it was the Soviets that destroyed like 75% of all Nazi units. So, errors like this one were commonplace.

So, I file this under 'fake news' but a cool story nonetheless.

#25 The other problem is that Henry Ford died on April 7 1947, so which story is fake news? But yeah, he could have seen it at the time and it was called a "cerebral hemorrhage". And "Death Stations" probably did have Soviet film of Majdanek. We where still allies at the time, if I recall. Can you find a link to it for me?

So much about what you read in media is fake, it's hard to tell without really digging into it. Did you know that 11,000,000 African slaves where sent to the New World, but only about 550,000 to the USA? The rest went south of the border to Central and South America, and the Caribbean. And that Mexico stole Texas from France and California from Russia, as well other Southwest states, and it's southern part from Guatemala?

There is a lot of things people don't get. For instance, there was democracy and gun ownership in America 300 years before the Constitution, and even women owned guns (they had to). And Rhode Island had something like equal rights for women?

"And that Mexico stole Texas from France and California from Russia, as well other Southwest states, and it's southern part from Guatemala?"

How did European colonialists have legitimate "ownership" of any part of North, South or Central America? Mexico couldn't "steal" any territory which was not legitimately owned. And then, how did the U.S. end up with both California and Texas without "stealing" those states.
