The Israeli Knesset, the country's legislative body, is moving to decriminalize marijuana with a vote set for this week. If the new law passes, it would replace jail time for most of those guilty of cannabis possession with civil fines. The Labor, Welfare and Health Committee approved the bill Monday and has advanced it to the full Knesset for consideration. The final vote on the measure is expected as soon as Tuesday.

Is marijuana Kosher?

If marijuana is going to be decriminalized, then why the fine?

Why do we subsidize a socialist, drug loving country?

The UN helped create Israel with some of that post World War II guilt. The US has been complicit and a leader. It's so hard to let go. It's also a tough and critical to gather allies you trust in that part of the world. We have a few.

Other than for Palestinians - who I hope come to get along with the US but lots of history, and USA has its own humanitarian crisis - I see direct aid as a one-sided thing getting addressed / cut deeply before 2020. Tough love all around at some point. Dignity of the Palestinian people has gotta be on the list of action points.

But yeah. Time to party in Tel Aviv!

Will this calm down some of the proIsrael support amongst Christians?

I doubt it.

Of course not. It will only convince them that the holocaust Jesus carries out on them in Armageddon will be even more deserved than before.

Uh oh...both sides are going to start getting confused. Should Liberals keep hating one of America's closest allies? If they do, they will have to stop being hypocrites about foreign issues. Should they continue to hate Israel? If they do, Israel's positive turns towards a more Liberal environment is not going to get American support. And Reps, are they going to have to start claiming one of the religious capitals of the world is now not religious, which will continue making them sound extremely absurd in everything they say? Are they going to have to do a 180 and cut back on funding and actually use it for Americans they don't care about? *GASP*
