Photos of a wake are going viral after a New Orleans family staged their loved one's corpse in an upright position so it looked like he was playing a video game. One image showed the dead man lounging in an office chair in the middle of the funeral parlor, wearing his favorite sports attire and surrounded by some of his favorite snacks. New Orleans' WDSU-TV identified the man as Renard Matthews, saying he died June 25 after being shot in the head. According to News4Jax sister station KPRC-TV, Matthews will be buried on Tuesday.

Here's a question. When a fat person is buried and begins decomposition does the earth start to weigh less or stay the same??

The earth gains weight every day due to cosmic dust raining upon the planet.

Is it really a statement that people who sit around playing games on their phones are already brain dead? I've never been able to play a single game on a phone or computer, it is just too boring.

"Is it really a statement that people who sit around playing games on their phones are already brain dead?"

It's a statement by definition, just a far more bigoted statement than an accurate one.

Big deal, y'all obviously have never been to an Irish wake. To their defense, alcohol was involved.

Granni Danni is the old fart screaming at those young whipper snappers to get off of her lawn.

C'mon Danni, that sounds more like a Boaz statement that you might want to rethink.

Everywhere I go people are focused entirely on their cell phones. Honolulu had to pass a law to prevent pedestrians from crossing streets while focused on cell phones, I see cars every day weaving all over the road because the driver is focused on his/her phone. It's an addiction. No jokes here, it is actually becoming a serious issue.

You've injected your soap box on cell phones while the recently past is represented playing a console game.

This isnt so weird really haven't we all known somebody that was buried with things they liked?

Only thing on to me is that they decided to have him upright in that chair but even that has a prescient.

#14 | Posted by Tor, Seems to be universal, people have in history burred the possessions of the deceased with them. It was the monotheist that changed that. Even in places that cremate their dead, paper representations of houses, cars and pets are cremated with the dead.

????

to my knowledge Monotheists for the most part have never objected to being buried with momentos.

#16 | Posted by Tor No, that ashes to ashes, dust to dust part has precluded taking stuff with you. Christens back before the third century used to be buried with little lamps. The Irish Christians buried their dead with nothing but a shroud, if that. Romans burned their dead but paid to have a grave stone. Most pagans buried the individuals with everything, especially weapons. Christians in Roam were big in using catacombs as were most Romans after the third century. The Jews and Muslims bury their dead the day they die, (within 24 hours), with nothing but a shroud.
