Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, July 09, 2018

The government of British Prime Minister Theresa May has been plunged into turmoil with the resignation of two senior Cabinet ministers in a deep split over her Brexit strategy. The Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, quit on Monday, hours after the resignation late on Sunday night of the minister in charge of Brexit negotiations, David Davis. A third member of the government, Steve Baker, a junior minister in Davis' Department for Exiting the EU, also resigned. Only three days ago, May appeared to have agreed a deal with her fractured Cabinet on the UK's post-Brexit relationship with the EU. That plan is now in tatters and her political future appears uncertain.

Progressives have no problem with overturning a democratic election if they don't get the desired outcome.

I think Brits are losing their taste for Brexit. I'll bet next election they change their minds.

"I'll bet next election they change their minds." Depends on who is counting the votes and whose votes count.

Theresa May is the leader of the Conservative Party.

There are not words to describe your level of stupid.

It was an omni-shambles from the start. Whatever nativist appeal Brexit had has vanished with the recurring incompetence that has characterized David Davis' negotiations. Davis has resigned, after accomplishing 4 hours of meetings with M. Barnier IN TWO YEARS. Nice work if you can get it.
The other pillock, Boris Johnson, has also bailed, not wanting to take responsibility for the coming mess. Pretty much like Cameron scarpered post referendum vote.
The general public mood has accepted a Brexit (it's now a question of degree), but the political elite has managed, all by themselves, to look grossly incompetent and a bunch of spivs to boot.
If you lot want to have a laff, take a look at a potential PM in the personage of Jacob Rees-Mogg. A Bertie Wooster type if there was ever a modern rendition. Jeremy Hunt is now the foreign secretary. And rhyming slang for the old one too.
On the upside, if you have property in Frankfurt, you'd be making a killing in rents now.

"Progressives have no problem with overturning a democratic election if they don't get the desired outcome."

Here in the U.S. where Republicans steal elections all the time yes you're right. IN GB, where the majority has decided Brexit was a very stupid idea yes again. Us progressives have this crazy idea that elections should be fair and that the majority should win. Republican celebrate elections they know they stole and that they know they didn't get a majority of the votes because they are dishonest and power is more important that honesty. Noles is one of those Republicans who celebrated the Mercers injecting millions of dollars into American elections. WE all know that elections should not be influenced by big money but he still celebrates it. Despicable.
