North Korea blasted the U.S. on Saturday for making what it called "robber-like" demands in meetings between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Pyongyang officials, calling the attitude and stance of American officials "regrettable."

Funny, but not funny ... with Trump as president, America is going to hell in a hand basket.

Democrats must make political hay out of this fiasco.

Trump got punked. Set himself up for a pie in the face and got one delivered.

Unilateral demands?

Don't you know, everyone likes to be dictated to.

Diplomacy 101.

Do you mean just like the 3 ministrations before him got shafted by NK. I guess not, Trump never gave them anything they could use to build their nuclear arsenal.

No, I mean how he got humiliated now, as in the present sense.

I knew he was going to get shafted. Why didn't Trump know?

Pompeo lied-twice-recently to the world, painting a rosy picture! Too bad no one could have forseen such an event happening..

Paithetic try -- -as usual -- - at deflection. When did the previous three administrations brag they were going to solve the NK problem, set up an elaborate photo op meeting, which proved to be a sham?

It's interesting to see Trump try to bargain with North Korea.

Obviously they're not going to denuclearize when it's their only bargaining chip.

(The words "only bargaining chip" might provide some right-wingers a clue as to what else North Korea has to bargain with... but I wouldn't bet on it.)

Interesting. I was just reading an opinion piece on the FoxNews web site. Even they think Trump was played.

"President Trump made a major concession simply by meeting with Kim, and then by halting joint military exercises between the U.S. and South Korea – a long-sought North Korean goal.

Once again, Pyongyang is following its tried and true diplomatic playbook of pocketing concessions and stalling for time.

This is where things get hard and the stakes jump dramatically. For there are only three possible paths for the Trump administration now, all of which are unappealing."

More from the Fox News link:

America has received nothing but an ambiguous statement signed by Kim and President Trump in Singapore. In that statement Kim reaffirmed his past pledge to "work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," without even defining what that means.

Meanwhile, the Iran deal, which had unprecedented verification safeguards up and down the supply chain, was "the worst deal ever".

Once again, Pyongyang is following its tried and true diplomatic playbook of pocketing concessions and stalling for time.

This is exactly what Max Hastings described in his book on the Korean War ...

In 1951, once the battle lines that cut the peninsula in half stabilized, both sides dug in and agreed to start peace talks at Panmunjom.

What then happened was North Korea and China engaged in a "talk, fight, talk" strategy that caused the peace talks to drag on for 2 years ... to wait out and wrangle as many concessions as possible from the impatient western democracies.

Talk, fight, talk ... Trump obviously does not know this, but his diplomats do know (or should know). But does Orange Adolf listen to his staff?

I can't imagine how, after getting a Drumpf-signed CD containing Rocket Man, a song Drumpf has used to insult the Supreme Leader (without knowing the meaning or lyrics of the song), and then having the US demand complete denuclearization without any leverage, how NK wouldn't simply just laugh at any American diplomat that walks into the room up front.

Do they make a Nobel Regretful Prize?

I listened to a Kellyann Conway interview on rightwing radio where a host basically asked a question based on that exact premise.

Not surprisingly, she took the opportunity to trash the Iran deal while dodging the fact that Trump's "deal" is worse than worthless.

This is a good time to remind (and laugh at) Trump supporters who saddled America with this buffoon.

"We're going to win so much. You're going to get tired of winning. you're going to say, ‘Please Mr. President, I have a headache. Please, don't win so much. This is getting terrible.' And I'm going to say, ‘No, we have to make America great."

I say, when is he going to start? So far he's been nothing but a HUGE embarrassment. I'm sure he'll blame Pompeo for his own stupid incompetence.

And this is the guy who thinks he's a big player on the world stage. Personally I don't think he could negotiate himself out of a wet paper bag.

This is an unspoken epidemic.

Certain people talk to people of color like, YOU WILL OBEY.

It's no longer 1945.

NK ended it amicably.

Put this on the EPIC FAIL list for Donald.

Trump must be the biggest idiot on the planet to think North Korea was going to give up their nuclear program.

As usual, all Trump cared about is the optics. Coincidentally, that's all Kim cared about, too.
